COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The heaviest one, rich of taste, colour and body, a nice balance in spite of the high alcohol content.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2004 syrupy, sweet, fruity, heavy, very special, reddish color. Once the first half of the glass is finished, it's pure enjoyment. Hard to buy in shops, often available in the arendsnest (pure dutch beer cafe)

Sampled at Arendsnest in Amsterdam, Holland. Dark Ruby. Pleasantly aromatic with notes of pine, spruce, berries and fruit punch. Very lively and fragrant. Extremely mellow, layered and soft. Slightly spicy with notes of cinnamon and pepper. Fruit notes throughout; especially cherries, orange and tangerine. Fantastic!

Tap @ In de Blauwe Hand, Nijmegen. Pours a deep see-through red with a small creamy off white head that leaves planty of lacing. Aroma is sweet, malty, some cookies, cinnamon, coriander and Belgian sugar. Nice, full mouthfeel - light carbonation. Flavour is very nice and complex spiced. Sweet at first, flowery bitter at the end. Some cookies, pepper and other spices abound in this wonderful beer. Nowhere coud I taste the 10 % ABV.

Very dense, like a syrup blended with biscuits. Biscuit aroma, dough, ripen apple, sweet sherry. The same biscuit jolt as you take a sip. Alcohol dominates the flavor, yet feels very relevant. Alcohol in the finish. The head is expectedly not impressive, dying.

Reddish coloured. Several berries in the aroma. Powerful and full bodied. Sweet, spicy and fruity with a bitter and dry finish.

The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel. The color is red and it has a fine though collapsing head. The flavor is sweet and malty with strong notes of caramel. A great beer, unfortunatly tasted late in a long session.

Draught, De Wildeman, Amsterdam. Didn’t realise this was 10%...no way I would have called that. Amber colour, with a decent whitey head. Caramel malt aroma with some berry fruit also. Quite sweet flavour but not cloyingly so; more fruit evident, with some spiciness. Thorougly enjoyable, complex stuff and has the whiff of real quality.

‘t Arendsnest. Cloudy reddish copper. Fair to generous off-white head with moderate lacing. Heady, liquorous and highly fruity nose with figs, raisins, pear and rather strong caramel notes. Sweet, almost syrupy palate. A real Belgian nightcap, quite complex in its yeastiness. Profoundly estery, slightly medicinal and showing clovey phenols. Thick, well-carbonated body. Satisfying and filling strong ale for the thinking man. Thumbs up!

At first you can really taste the alcohol but this gets less once the glass empties. Nice taste.

Bottle at Arendsnest. This was quite pricey at about EUR 10. But it was wonderful as well. Sugary, really good. Sweet, with a well-textured taste. The nose is quite skunky but a really good beer anyhow. I enjoyed this beer for quite some time.
