2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
330 ml. bottle sampled. BBF 20/05/17. Lightly hazy amber orange, creamy faintly off-white head. Nose is odd, intense vegetables, heavily oily mixed with some caramel & toffee not too nice. Taste is metallic, heavily oily caramel mixed with vegetables, oily almost cough medicine, herbal, medicinal, lots of butter, vegetable oil. Body is vegetable oil & some butter. Nope doesn’t work too well for me. It doesn’t feel right. First beer made at De Proef out probably hundreds that doesn’t feel entirely right to me. They have made beers that were very far from exiting or to nice but always perfectly & flawlessly on demand even if they were dull ignorable fare for me but this makes me wonder slightly. Confused about this one.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Kale Ridders’ first beer since 2010, a ’tarwetripel’ with sticky, off-white head and brownish ochre blonde colour. Aroma of orange, peach, some sourish wheat, minerals, bread, coriander; soft fruity onset, full, dryish palate, wheaty with some caramel, aromatic floral hoppiness and some warming alcohol in the finish. Decent, but nothing special.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
0.33L bottle. Pours clear golden with a frothy white head that lingers. Aromas are rich: bready malt, caramel, tropical fruit, floral hops. Flavor is mild sweet, but goes very quickly to floral and resiny hop flavor. Finishes with long, dry herby hop and some yeast, with cloying sugars and alcohol in the chest. Full body with a sticky mouthfeel and active carbonation. Overall, definitely taste the alcohol in this beer. Has some nice aromas, but not so well balanced flavor-wise.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Buona, non troppo corposa, fresca, poco amara. Una birra non espoliva ma comunque piacevole. Peccato per l’etichetta un po troppo semplice.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Golden colour, slightly hazy, white head that nicely laces. Sweet and grainy (4!) malts and ripe fruit in the nose and taste, together with a good punch from the 9°. Not too complex. Velvet soft mouthfeel, low carbonation, firm body.

From bottle into Julius glass. Pretty nice tripel. Big orange-gold color with a nice pour, and flavor didn’t disappoint.
