3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. A nice-looking light tan head of finger-thick size forms over a next to black body. The aroma has lots of mocha, with dark chocolate, roasted malts and some toffee. Hints of molasses. It’s full-bodied and semi-sweet on the palate, with a nice carbonation level. Roasted malts, molasses notes and a good dash of mocha in the flavor. A tad warming, and with a nice bitterness towards the end. Quite nice this one, but a bit too warming. 140830

Awesome. From bottle into Julius chalice. Really deep inky black with a medium-brown head that sticks and laces nicely. This has all the great things about an imperial stout - big malt, dark chocolate - delivered with a surprisingly light palate. Some earth in the finish. Maybe I can detect the Belgian edge to it, but maybe it’s just because I know it’s from here. Really enjoy this - one of few imperial stout substitutes in Belgium. Nicely done.
