4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Variety (28) - BELGIUM - SEP 17, 2003
(draught) Lovely golden colour, light head, fantastic lacework in the chalice glass: this is one attractive beer. The good malty taste, 6% ABV and longish aftertaste all add up to a very satisfying drink. Having said that, I followed it 20 minutes later with the amber (draught), which is still my favourite tipple in Antwerp.

what a sensational ber from de Koninck, i think it's even better than the original, very nice colour(a little lighter), nice aroma's they appear a bit more fruity, they last longer, and this beer is nice going commercially aswell, it's bitter finsh is a nice added bonus, so you ca easyly order an other one

UPDATED: JAN 2, 2009 Hoppy and butter aroma. Amber/golden color, nice firm white head, very good lace. Bit creamy, thick, light sweet start, full, hint of citrus. Bitter finish. I like this one much more than their original De Koninck.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 JorisPPattyn (6729) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - JUN 26, 2003
Gold-amberish; thin white dense head, fast gone. Nose of freshly cut melon, malt, grassy and some Thai herb. Very malty taste; fine bitter finish (Saazhops obviously). Lemony aroma retronasal, some grapefruit and maybe some melon again. Light to medium-bodied. Long fine bitter aftertaste. Quite fruity (yeast?), surprisingly original. Is this a new beer, will De Koninck tripel be a new beer? Antoon, Cuvée and Begyn are gone anyway. The brewery says yes, of course,
I was more sceptical, but I'm beginning to believe them. But will it save De Koninck from the plummeting sales of amber ale?
