Brewed with addition of biological cane sugar from South America, instead of the ubiquitous Belgian white candi sugar.

Light head, clear yellow. Fullbodied light sweet nose with lemon curd and a little gunpowder. Medium body and semilong aftertaste. a bit hollow with a lemony exit, marzepan. Quite nice an developing with some air.

Metalchopz (1173) - Quebec, CANADA - DEC 5, 2011
Originally rated December 2005. Bought at the LCBO, part of a 4 bottle pack with one De Koninck glass. This tripel pours an amber colour with a small head, but good lace. Cinnamon is found in the aroma, with some caramel, fruit and notes of honey. The mouthfeel is lacking, thin-bodied. Even the taste is under-par for this type of beer. Some spices, but very, very smooth. Too bad, good start for this one... but lacks in the flavour department.

Bottle. Rose gold with a small white head. Some floaties. Aroma of caramel, dough and oranges. Dull mouthfeel - although it’s not undercarbonated. Taste is sweet with lots of caramel, some spices and flowers. Gently drying at the end. A little past best before date, but the hops are completely outgunned here.

Poured slightly cloudy amber color with nice foamy off-white head. Smells of caramel and a little bit of yeast. Hints of sweetness and yeast with some hoppy bitterness.

A little above average tripel, probably the best beer from Brewery De Koninck, in my opinion at least. Not the best smell but nice carbo and body.

I don’t like the smell of koninck. Other than that it doesn’t have major flaws but i just don’t really like it.

Bottle, poured into weizen glass. Aroma is quite bland, moderate head, creamy but dissipating. Dark brown, sunset amber hints, with numerous particles. Taste is bitter strong alcohol overtones, bitter and burnt with a sustained finish. Metallic and tinny

A tripel that doesn’t really quite cut it, compared to the abbey tripels out there.
