Bottled: Dark golden coloured. Off white lasting head. Flowery, hoppy and has some alcahol notes in the aroma. Flavour is sweet, fruity and has distinct alcahol notes. Is sweet and light bitter in the end. Doent live long on the palate.

Rather bad and strange aroma. Some notes of dirt, ground and somewhat sour. Sweet and boring. Some weak hoppy aftertaste.

pivo (2540) - GERMANY - JUN 25, 2004
Light nose lacking any distinction, deep gold-amber color, cream head. Listed under "Amber Beers" at the Bierodrome in London (Kingsway). Apple-like malt - like juice. Not getting the yeast component of a triple and realizing why they are calling this an amber. A gritty dryness emerges after the swallow. Thinish. A good amber but "Tripel" is a misnomer.

Golden color. Ordinary Strong Ale, the residual sweetness (with some malt taste) makes of it an easy drinkable one, nevertheless with a quite strong final bitterness. Hides quite well the alcohol content.

jbrus (4990) - Delft, NETHERLANDS - JAN 27, 2004
Bit skunky, light caramel and light hoppy aroma. Light amber color, white head, good lace. Sweet, fruity, bitter finish. Fuller and sweeter than the regular De Koninck but much the same flavors.

Clear yellow coloured, medium head. Spicy aroma. Quite sweet. Not the best tripel, but ok.

Clear sparkling yellow color, nice medium creamy head, splendid appearance. Aroma is spicy of coriander. Bit sweet taste for a tripel, but nicely balanced. Very drinkable triple indeed.

UPDATED: MAR 31, 2005 Very pale amber, crystal-clear; no head, just little white rim - for De Koninck! First impression of rotting vegetables, wocked in sesame/soy oil. Sesame nose, plus a bit of caramel keeps hanging around. Damn! That sesame oil is back in the taste! Plus liquorice and roasted peanuts this time, dissolved in cooking brandy. Quite alcoholic. Body seems thinner than it is. Nice warming throatfeel. My God, what have they done?? The makers of the Beer I used to measure all beers with! O tempora, o mores - I left Antwerpen for one year, and this is the result? New rating 30/03/05 at the brewery. Two different versions, 75cl unpasteurised and 33cl pasteurised Clear pure copper colour, yellow-pink (melon) coloured head. Vegetable nose, again with an oily component, but NOT sesame - and the veggies weren’t rotting this time; sweet malts taste, milky. Fruity, yeasty esters ending in a just sourish edge. Thick, nearly chewt MF, very sweet and un-dry for a tripel, oily. No doubt the effect of the cane-sugar. Please try the 3/4l bottles if you can find them - much better.
