3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 BillyMidnight (41) - Alberta, CANADA - MAR 4, 2009
As previously noted, this is a very sweet beer, and there are better tripels in the world, but it was a great relief after the disappointment that was De Koninck Amber. The sweetness masks the tastes of misery and disenchantment, making it the perfect beer for another lonely night of wondering why the hell she would leave me for some poetry-writing douche bag. Eight per cent alcohol content plants the idea that she’ll come back as soon as she realizes she could have had all this.
1.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 6/20 donfardz64 (538) - Wellington, New Zealand, NEW ZEALAND - FEB 11, 2009
330mL bottle from Regional. Pours deep golden with a bubbly off white head which dissipates to nothing.
Aroma has the basics of a Tripel, with cloves and subtle coriander. Malt lies underneath.
Incredibly sugary and sweet. Once you come to terms with the sweetness there is some mild clove and malt. Little on the finish. Little complexity, overly sweet. More like a malt liquor than a Tripel.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Ober (2260) - Bommelerwaard, NETHERLANDS - JAN 23, 2009
A clear amber colored beer, with nice beige head. The aroma of sweet fruits with some caramel and some almond. The taste of sweet fruits, with notes of alcohol. The aftertaste is mainly sweet.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 yalnikim (800) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - JAN 15, 2009
Tasted 15/01/2009. 330ml bottle from Regionals. Solid but tending sickly sweet and slightly syrupy. If there is complexity there it is too subtle for me, hidden amongst the sweet sweet beer. A textbook tripel it ain’t. Honeybread, ha ha! If it was a singer songwriter it’d be James Blunt, maybe John Mayer... at first sniff the melody seems ok but then you realise it just isn’t taking you anywhere.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 austone (1062) - Turku; Pori, FINLAND - JAN 2, 2009
Draught. Amber, nice creamy pale head. Nicely fruity aroma, kiwi and passion fruit, sweet maltiness, smooth stuff. Sweet and fruity flavor, a lot of strawberry and kiwi, not much hops and no apparent alcohol. Medium bodied, creamy lush palate. A real sniper with it’s ABV, if you can stand the sweetness. Not really much of a Tripel though.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 mjs (3000) - Helsinki, FINLAND - DEC 27, 2008

Quite full bodied palate with medium carbonation. Sweetness, citric flavours, more citric flavours, bitterness and hint of saltiness in taste. Sweetm bitter and fruity aftertaste.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 ILduce (162) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 1, 2008
330ml bottle: Clear ruby-amber with no head. Aroma is dominated by the cane. Flavour the same with no trace of hops. Somewhat alcoholic. Thin tripel. Not terribly good.
