Poured into tulip. Beer had great aroma, good appearance, and good color. Very flat on my taste buds. Tasted like a standard export. But again, it smelled amazing. Maybe one day the style will grow on me.

UPDATED: NOV 14, 2013 Nice clear dark red with good off-white head. Aroma is sweet caramel, Belgian spice, some citrus and floral. Medium mouthfeel with low carbonation. Aftertaste is Round and sweet caramel, some citrus and floral hops. Overall: well made beer, but nothing special.

Draft at Den Engel, Antwerpen. Amber, big frothy head. Yeasty and fruity. Medium bitterness. Very smooth and drinkable. Would be great elsewhere, but average in Belgium.

Pours deep copper, finger off white head. Smells like a cross between an amber and a brown. Nutty with caramel, light roast. belgian yeast. Taste thin, bit of caramel. Lighter bodied. Decent

(Keg at Black Door, 20131025) I was surprised that I hadn’t rated this classic beer. The beer poured deep amber and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, caramell and Belgian style yeast. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, caramell, Belgian style yeast, grass and bitterness. Aftertaste had Belgian style yeast, malts and bitterness. A solid Belgian brew: dull but it works.

A true classic, this special belge. Caramalt, with a sweet-bitter taste. Refreshing.
