The ubiquitous "bolleke" of Antwerp. Respectable, but unexciting. In fact, over a few days in Antwerp, I began to find it a bit boring. And I couldn’t help getting reminded of those creamy British keg bitters of the seventies and, more recently, nitrokeg smooth "bitters". Draught, Antwerp, September 2003.

On tap at Firkin’s, Libertyville, IL. Fresh keg. Clear amber ale having a long-lasting large white head with good lacing. Fruity and sweet malt aromas. Medium bodied that starts with sweet malt and toffee flavors. Finishes with light malt aftertaste. No discernable hop or bitterness. This is a good drinkable session beer.

VEry good, after a while it is a normal beer, but at the beginning, it is very sweet and strong, not tiring, but not as crafty as some others. I like it. Yes.

33 ml bottle, from BevMo LaJolla. Pours a beautiful rosy-amber color with a small beige head. Aroma is dusty-toasty malts, with a dry yeastiness and herbal notes. Flavor is dry and bitter-sweet with floral hops and a slight spicy yeast. Light to medium body and moderate carbonation. This would be a good one with food, not bad as a European session ale as well.

Dark amber colour, rather small head, malty aroma. Palate is herby yet a smouth taste with a light bitter finish. Easy drinkable beer.

Pours light chestnut brown. Fruity sour aroma, nutty flavour without the expected butteryness. Okay-ish.

On tap at The Globe. Poured a murky copper. Mild fruits on the nose. Raisans and prunes in what was a somewhat muted flavor to me. Had a bit of a funky mild sourness to it.
