A pale brown with a good coverage of head - which laced beautifully down the glass. Aroma was a pleasant sweet malt. One downside was that it was TOO COLD (what a sin), so difficult to get out any flavours, except for the malt. It did melt on the tounge though, not as in your face as some other belgium beers. Also had a nice amount of bitterness. Emil (6074), Copenhagen, Denmark

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 27, 2005 Draught at beerbistro. Orange-amber colour with a small head that leaves some nice lacing. Aroma and flavour are both quite sweet and malty, with notes of caramel and spice, and some yeastiness in the background. A bit of well-balanced bitterness in the finish. Not a super-exciting beer, but it’s pleasant and a little different from most. jimhilt (1674), Bow, New Hampshire, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 23, 2005 Pours a one-fingered white head that fades quickly leaving some lace. Clear amber color. Nose is sour plums. Light carbonation and light-medium bodied. Starts with a good mix of malt and hops, finish has some sour undertones. Not as harsh as American pales. $1.45 for a 330ml bottle from Colonial Spirits, Acton, Ma. Papsoe (14904), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Caramel notes but dry, not sweet nor bitter. Actually extremely well-balanced. If you want to drink a LOT of beer this is my recommended choice. Although not sophisticated in any way this is so much more satisfying than pils. Try it on tap in the typical "bolleke"-glass. 280993 TheBeerGod (3147), Newport News, Virginia, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 12, 2005 Bottle. Pours amber with a small white head. Lots of particles suspended in this. Nose is fruity and sweet with light honey and flowery notes. Taste seems a bit more bitter than the aroma would let on. Light hoppiness, dried fruits, thinned honey and light floral notes. Body is light-medium with moderate carbonation feel. Light bitterness throughout. Finishes with more fruit and floral notes, hints of caramel, honey and light hops. Not bad. lagermonkey (597), Marietta, Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 10, 2005 Pours a golden amber with a creamy ivory head. Some lacing evident. Smell is grassy and fruity. Dry and lightly bitter in the nose.
Taste is not exactly complex. Basically the same as it smells. Grassy and lightly bitter. Fruity and crisp. Body is a bit thin but pleasant. Nice character for a subdued beer. Bitter aftertaste. Crisp. Very drinkable, a good session beer. I have a soft spot for this one, drank plenty the last time I was in Antwerp. A different, more pleasing beer on draft but a fine, if not complicated belgian amber.
