Gromit (460), Port Orchard, Washington, USA Feb 12, 2005 Pours a nice dark amber with a decent head that disapates into a little ring.
Aroma is sweet malt with a little bit of Belgian sourness.
Flavor is okay, but a little weak. Just a standard Belgian style ale.
Palate is thin with just a little carbonation, but crisp from the sourness. It could use a little more. Overall, it’s not bad but nothing special.
Radek Kliber (3932), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada Feb 7, 2005 Nice amber Belgian ale, pleasant snowy creamy head. Fresh spiced aroma , some hopp feel and malts . Full to medium bodied , creamy but it good way . Refreshing, thirst quenching. Rather simple but that strength in such beer. Best to have after long day of hard work. Crockett (904), Steelback County, Ontario, Canada Feb 6, 2005 Perfectly clear maple syrup colour with a little soapy white head. Aroma is very dull. A bit of sweet crusty toasted malts. Sappy hop bitter. Some mediciney dish soap but not foul. Wishy washy finish. dirkules (613), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 3, 2005 Tap @ Beer Bistro. Strong caramels and malts. Spicy and sweet on top of a medium body. Bitter mouth toward the finish. Very nice!
DrGonzo (625), Somerville, Massachusetts, USA Feb 2, 2005 33cl bottle. Clear dark amber color, minimal head. Mildly malty aroma, fruit, apples, spice. Clean and light body, sweet, with a malty lingering dry finish. Certainly not a bad beer, just not particularly interesting, lacking the complexity you might expect from most Belgians. highlandlad (1258), Sydney, Australia Jan 30, 2005 Updated: May 10, 2005Beautifully balanced Belgian ale. Poured an amber colour with a healthy creamy head. Some spices in the aroma - cinammon mainly - and some sweet caramel notes. Firm bodied and finely balanced. Toffee and raisins in a dry body, followed by an appetisingly bitter finish. Very satisfying drinking. (Sample: bottle) DougShoemaker (2855), Toronto, Canada Jan 29, 2005 On tap.
Aroma of caramel, butterscotch and malt, copper, with a small tan head. Flavour is malt, with melted brown sugar, woody notes as well. Well balanced, pleasantly sweet, good bitterness toward the finish. Very nice! whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 29, 2005 Golden amber body with a heavy yeast load, abundant carbonation, and a sudsy, almost effervescent white head. Aroma of tart lemony esters, grain, toasty malt, and cherry notes. Sharp, leathery flavor with more citrusy esters and an unexpected hint of Brett. Semi-dry with substantial bitterness in the finish. A basic, straight-forward Belgian ale. Would probably pair decently with most routine meals.
