steve23mj (273), Essexville, Michigan, USA Jan 27, 2005 Pours reddish brown with minimal head. Nose is sweet yet malty. Flavor has a spicy bitterness with some sweetness in the middle. Finishes dry. tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 21, 2005 On tap, Beer Bistro, Toronto. Nice looking dark orange colour. Decent creamy white head. Some subtle soft spiciness in aroma. Mouthfeel is medium to light bodied with a refreshing crispness. Taste is slightly malty, a little yeasty, and has a dry finish. Maybe just a tad watery as well. Nothing really outstanding here, just a well done Belgian Ale that I would drink again. Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 19, 2005 Looks are good, with a light amber and lace. Aroma is OK, yeasty and fruity sweet. The taste is rather average. Mouthfeel on thin side. pobenohne (504), Northern Liberties, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 30, 2004 Always on draft at the Abbaye. I try it every 3-4 months and then am unimpressed and wonder why I didn’t have a Yards. Can you believe it: a boring beer from Belgium that is not stella. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA Dec 18, 2004 Orange in color with an abundance of floaters and little head. Looks like marmalade. Strong caramel aroma with some toasted malt and honey also. Quite watery in mouth feel and a bit oxidized too. Lacking in flavor. macguy (144), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Dec 13, 2004 I really like DeKoninck. In Antwerp, there is a cafe that sells yeast shots from the DeKoninck brewery. It’s a good drinkable yeasty ale. There are plenty of better Belgians, but DeKoninck is just fine. Thanks to my local packy for ordering it up. Loddeer (171), USA Dec 4, 2004 For a belgian, this just had a bland and negative overall taste. Spiced aroma and taste nonexistant. There was no character to the flavor, just unbalanced overtones of malt and unsavory darkness. Bottom tier belgian. I really do not see how people enjoy this one, considering most other options are superior. BearBrewer (86), New York, east village, New York, USA Dec 2, 2004 draft@ jane, nyc. Clear rusty brown, very thin head, almost no lacing. Thin mouthfeel, not much body. A little fruit in the nose, but light. Just kind of dull.. but very drinkable.
