footy (334), scottsdale, Arizona, USA Nov 28, 2004 Bottled 330 ml. Brownish red thin head. Fruity aroma. Thin mouthfeel. Malty with some bitterness. Not much to it but need to try again. Kasteelfreak (341), Fallbrook, California, USA Nov 27, 2004 Light and green tasting. Dry without much maltiness. Takes a while to get used to. wnhay (722), Princeton, New Jersey, USA Nov 18, 2004 This was pretty good. I loved it when I had it, but I have had Belgian beers that are a lot better. This is a good beer to have second. If you have it first you won’t get a strong enough taste. I had Aventinus and then this and it worked pretty well. thehipone (197), Australia Nov 18, 2004 Nothing extra special here. Poured to a brownish red color in the glass with a thin, diminishing head. Very lightly carbonated. Had an aroma and taste of sweet caramel malt flavor. Very lightly hopped, with only hints of fruity flavor. Some butterscotch flavor from diacetyl. Reminded me of an English style ale. Pretty light on the palate. Very easy drinking. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Nov 6, 2004 Bottle dated 6-16-04. Poured a small ivory head with a fair amount of lacing, transparent, cabonated and an orange hue. Malty, sweet, some caramel notes, and fruity, Flavor was sweet, malty, watery, smooth, and some fruityness. Smooth, watery, thin mouthfeel. An easy drinking beer IMO. mdi (573), Nebraska, USA Oct 24, 2004 Tap at Hopleaf, Chicago. Big, creamy head(served in De Koninck Boleke). Slightly fruity, malt laden aroma. Big, malty, smooth beer with a nice touch of Saaz hopping to pepper the malt, especially the finish. Very lager-like finish to me...this one is best on tap, I think. BBB63 (4199), La Porte, Indiana, USA Oct 15, 2004 Bottle via JoeM, thanks: Reddish amber hue with nice frothy off-white head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of candi sugar, ripened apples and pears, orange zest, aromatic and grassy hops, light caramel, and zest yeast esters. The taste starts with a bittersweet note, some malt and a acidic fruit content. Zesty and bitter finish with a dose of pepper. The feel is lively but a bit thin. Refreshing for a Belgian Ale, a session style brew. A like this more than average ratebeerian I guess. JonR888710 (999), Cochabamba, Bolivia Oct 14, 2004 Peachy orange w/ brown hues. Small, soapy, whitehead. Smells of rich malt, raisins and cherries. Sweet malt taste with wheat, cherries, dates, figs, alcohol. Medicinal aftertaste leaves bad impression. you could do a lot better.
