3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 bb (4577) - Alamo, California, USA - JUN 24, 2004
Bottle. Dark amber beer with a white head that disapears quickly. Somewhat yeasty aroma with a little spice. Thin body that quenches your thirst easily. There’s a spiciness to it and a mildly sweet backing. Nothing special, but it’s enjoyable in it’s well-done simplicity.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Beershine (4561) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - OCT 22, 2007
Enters with gusto but is a lot like chewing gum: it doesn’t last long. Gets boring, almost stale after a while and loses its character.

Draft. Amber color, medium off white head. Aroma of caramel, taste is similar. Smooth and easy to drink, but unexciting.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 sayravai (4522) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JAN 20, 2004
UPDATED: DEC 24, 2006 (Bottled) Very hazy reddish amber color with a small, slightly lacy head. Sourish toffee aroma with some vinous feel. Balanced, but a bit dull. Sourish-grainy, toffee-malty, peppery, pretty dry flavor with smooth hops in the background. Medium-bodied, dryish palate with medium carbonation. A well-made and balanced, very basic brew with nothing to remember in good or bad. Should make a nice session beer.
(Bottled, rated May 17, 2004, was 6-3-6-3-12=3.0) Nice, deep amber color with a small and diminishing head. Hoppy, a bit yeasty and pepper-spicy, bitter-like aroma. Bitter, dry and peppery flavor, that fades very fast. Light to medium-bodied, dry palate. Quite characterless, below average ale (in the Belgian scale).

UPDATED: OCT 11, 2007 My bottle has "10/07/04" on the back, and I wasn’t sure if this was in the European style (ie, July 4, 2010), or American (ie, Oct 7, 2004), and if the latter whether that was a bottling date or best by date. The place I bought this from hasn’t even been open a year yet, so it’s all perplexing. As I pour, I suspect this is old ... muddy and extremely heavily sedimented, with a sour aroma, this just feels old. It’s earthy, somewhat bubblegummy, but extremely thin bodied, despite the chunky persona. Me thinks I was robbed. I’ll try again. Discount my rating for now. <<Re-rate from draft, Falling Rock Taphouse, 10/10/07 ... much better. Tea-colored with a thin top, this may not be the freshest keg, but it still drinks well. Sweet with a hint of the sourness that really came out in my 3-year old bottle. Thin body and I struggled to get past the tea analogy, even in the flavor. Upgraded a bit. >>(#2943, 5/30/2007)
