UPDATED: OCT 5, 2007 BB 5/1/2004 date. Poured a light orange, dark yellowish amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma of belgian yeast, yellow fruits and light hops. Also a dry papery/nutty aroma as well. Flavor has the typical belgian yeastiness, some lightly sweet malt, mild carbonation and a medium to medium light body. Dries out considerably so on the finish. A good belgian ale, but with little distinctive personality, if any.

A: The pour is a light amber color with a short lived off-white head and mild carbonation. S: The nose is mildly vinegary with a bit of sweet caramel, butterscotch, and cherries. T: The flavor is muted and watery with a bit of vinegar and a hint of sweetness. M: The body is light with a watery feel on the tongue. The carbonation is moderate. D: Not really a very good beer. Very watery and mild in terms of flavor, but I honestly had no expectations going in.

Draught. Clear amber color with thin white head. Smells distinctly of apples. Flavor is similar, but is dominated by cardboard. Bitter finish. Bleh.

On tap @ In De Wildeman, Amsterdam. Pours a beautiful clear dark amber color. Minor beige head. Aroma is mainly caramel and sweet malts. Nice toffee flavour with hops and some pleasant mild fruits. Very well balanced and easy to drink. I really love this beer. It’s so significant and clean and down to earth. Less is more!

330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 5.0%. Brown colour, low head. Moderate but pleasant fruity aroma, hints of spices. The flavour is spicy with moderate malts, not very sweet, pleasant to drink. Relatively high carbonation in the glass. This is not an "extreme" Belgian ale in any way, and no "challenge" for the beer enthusiast, but probably an ale that most people will like.
