Light and green tasting. Dry without much maltiness. Takes a while to get used to.

On tap in koads of venues in Antwerp and most recently in Jurriaans, Amsterdam. A really good standard beer. Creamy, pretty light, with a nutty and slightly orangey flavour. Nice fizziness, nice colour, and creamy topping.

Bottle: Poured a hazy deep yellow color ale with a huge foamy dirty white head wit pretty good retention. Aroma of Belgian yeast with sweet malt. Taste is quite refreshing with some mild sweet malt and nice dose of Belgian yeast. Medium dry finish with a nice above average body. Very good take on the style.

I really like DeKoninck. In Antwerp, there is a cafe that sells yeast shots from the DeKoninck brewery. It’s a good drinkable yeasty ale. There are plenty of better Belgians, but DeKoninck is just fine. Thanks to my local packy for ordering it up.

Not your typical Begian Ale as it is a bit subdued in flavor, but nonetheless an enjoyable beer. A nice thirst quencher.

UPDATED: FEB 12, 2007 On draught. Rich copper colour in the glass. Small head for a draught Belgian beer, but good lacing. Sweet, some malt and hopes, but not enough to make it distinctive. Bit of a let down considering all the ’classic Belgian ale’ jive that goes with it, but its ok.
*I had a couple of bottles of this last night (29/12/06) and I prefered it to the draught - much more dry and with the hops more evident, but with out the large fluffy head.
I had a glass on draught at The Rake (02/02/07) and it was much better than the draught at the Bierodrome. Much dryer and complex - honey flavours, some spice and and well rounded finish. I guess these guys keep their beer better.
A Re-re-re rating. I had a half at The Dove on Broadway Market, Hackney and it was the best yet. Such an easy drinking beer, full of flavour. When its well kept, its a winner.
