UPDATED: NOV 9, 2005 Draught At Pub Italia, Ottawa. Poured clear amber with a big rocky-creamy off-white lasting head. Aroma of yeast, raisins/apples, mild hops, light roast malt and a bit of wheat. Flavour of mild sweet malt, some fruit, sourish grains, citrus - quite smootth with hops notable in the finish. Palate very balanced, not complex, creamy. Overall a terrific quencher and great with food.

Poured cloudy dark amber with a minimal head, but with an abundance of floaties, maybe due to it being 12 months out of date! The dusty aroma contains some spice, toffee and muscatels. The flavour is well balanced, sweet with some good finishing bitterness. A medium bodied palate with a decent lasting aftertaste. This beer certainly fights above it’s weight of 5%, with plenty of flavour.

Draught - Red dark amber body, clear, very creamy head; Very pleasant complex nose, little malty sweet; Soft, a bit to clean lab. like (to clean) body, sharp carbonation, a little bitter; Long quite bitter finish, complex with nice aromas. This beer really is one of my all time favorites, I do think that is has become a bit to clean over the years.

Nice head of deep amber. Very deep malty aroma and taste: bready and toasty. Not as defined as others in the style that I’ve had. Still enjoyable.

I love ales, belgian, british, all of them. This one is no exception altho it’s quite a big name. It’s got character, yet it’s easy to drink. It’s nicely dry, but not too bitter.

I remember having this one at Hoopmans in Amsterdam, was nice! But by that time I had too many to even care. Wish I had more time there.

Bottle from giftpack. Slightly cloudy, red-amber in colour, with a decent ivory head. Nice aroma with fipefruit, florals and citrus all there.Taste starts sweet and bready, followed by a little alcohol, finishing up hoppy and crisp. Well balanced. Mouthfeels is full and a little soapy. Would drink again.
