Pours a one-fingered white head that fades quickly leaving some lace. Clear amber color. Nose is sour plums. Light carbonation and light-medium bodied. Starts with a good mix of malt and hops, finish has some sour undertones. Not as harsh as American pales. $1.45 for a 330ml bottle from Colonial Spirits, Acton, Ma.

Pours a fizzy amber color, with a lively small head. Aroma is of cinnamon and spice. Flavor is of apples, a little hay and some wood and tartness. Finish is crisp and moderately dry. Body is a little thin. A refreshng session beer, with just the right combination of spice and zest.

Bottle. Limpid amber body with average carbonation and a thin off-white foamy head. Good malty aroma with hoppy, plummy and brown sugar notes. Sharp hoppy taste that carries some oaky hints. Ends with a long bitter aftertaste. Good average Ale.

UPDATED: JUN 7, 2005 Tap. Apple vinegar aroma - light yeast and must tones. Cloudy light brown with small head. Very ciderlike inititally with a sweet and sour light malt and bitter finish. Body was a bit weak. Interesting - a bit like a weak Gueuze. Bottle version was much less acidic and lighter as well as being a darker brown.

Amber color, meidum light head. Flowery, pretty malty, a bit sweet, notes of yeast and fruits in aroma. Medium body, smooth and balanced, maybe a bit watery texture. Flavor is moderately bitter, sweet, malty, a bit dry, notes of yeast and a bit acidic. Finish is dryer and acidic. Pretty good Belgian ale.

UPDATED: JUL 12, 2005 On tap at Pub Italia. Dark amber ale with a thick off white head. Strong apple and beeries in aroma. Rather oxidized malts and sweetish maple notes, with some german style hoppiness. Medium bodied. Very slightly above average. 6-3-5-3-11
Bolleke at Oude Arsenaal, May 2005. Red amber ale with a thick off white head. Sweet perfumey aroma of rosewater and sweet vanilla. Sweet maple-like sugar, with delicate nuttyness, very floral in mouth, like rose petals. 8-5-8-4-15
