UPDATED: AUG 21, 2011 I always think that I like this one more than I actually do when I taste it again. At least it is a fairly inexpensive Belgian draft at Sharp Edge but there it does not have that much else going for it. +++ Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer pours a neutral brown color with a medium sized creamy tan head. The aroma is a mix of sweet and fruity and yeasty. The flavor is mild, with a dry sourness, a hint of nut and a yeasty almost bready taste. Hard to really get a handle on just what the flavor is. Pretty mild for a Belgian. The draft is about the same - maybe a bit smoother.

Bottle from Peace St. Market, Raleigh. Coppery colored with aroma of caramel malt, some cabernet, fruit, and black pepper aromas. Tastes fairly well balanced and complex, with medium body and some dryness in the finish. I would drink this again, and I would jump at the chance to try it on tap.

Pours out a clear light amber color with a small lacing head that quickly vanishes. Aroma of some sweet fruit, spice and slight yeast. Taste is refreshing, a bit watery. Notes of fruit, some yeast and spice, some dryness on the finish. Not a bad, good for a summer beer.

draft@ jane, nyc. Clear rusty brown, very thin head, almost no lacing. Thin mouthfeel, not much body. A little fruit in the nose, but light. Just kind of dull.. but very drinkable.

Pours light chestnut brown. Fruity sour aroma, nutty flavour without the expected butteryness. Okay-ish.

Looks are good, with a light amber and lace. Aroma is OK, yeasty and fruity sweet. The taste is rather average. Mouthfeel on thin side.

Interesting brew, not what I expected. The pour is mahogany, no real head and traces of spiderlace. The aroma is of nuts and sour grain/mash, like a country silo... almost can distinguish some fruit notes. The flavors are similar, but lean toward nuts, burned toast and hay. The finish is crisp, and the brew is well-bodied. As the beer warms, I pick up more beans in the nose and toast in the finish. Overall, it’s not a bad beer, but not my absolute favorite, although it does get extremely better as the brew warms up. Best seved after sitting for 10-15 minutes at room temperature.
