2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 BillKismet (2757) - Seattle, Washington, USA - OCT 23, 2002
Another seemingly overrated Belgian Ale. The appearance is pleasant enough--healthy bronze hue and a bit over-carbonated with a ring of big bubbles on top. The smell is redolent of the HoH rainforest: damn pine with a prickle of urine. Despite, this initial reaction, I resumed my investigation. The body is of damp pine, watery, insubstantial mouthfeel with a little twinge on the bacl of the palate that instantly subsides. The body is reminiscent of busch beer--this beer is like a belgian ale meets american standard. No wonder why this stuff was so modestly priced.

Sweet malt hop aroma. Crystal clear red brown colour with fair head and lacing. Bitter hop malt flavour. Flat palate.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 lagomswedish (213) - Umeå, SWEDEN - APR 11, 2008
Bottle from Systembolaget. I don’t warm to this beer at all. It’s bright, amber and flat. Vaguely yeasty, vaguely cheesy, and vaguely berry-like. Taste is vaguely like far better Belgium ales, and feels artificial, dusty, dirty and a little metallic.

Roasty aroma and very roasty malty taste. Dark brown appearance. Drinkable beer. not my favorite style.
2 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Magjayran (1379) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - APR 3, 2005
From a bottle. Amber/orange color. Nothing notable about the aroma. Boring flavor, some hops and yeast to it. Very thin. Fizzy. Boring. Boring.

Not impressed by any standard. Where is my money??? The unfiltered residue is disturbing---much moreso than a Hefe. Questions if actual ’crystal clear water’ is used or if it is from the sewers of Belgium. Not even worth trying once. I’m tempted to pour this out but at least there is some sort of unnatural taste that, I believe, will prevent me from finding the drain.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 CapFlu (3798) - Victoria, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 9, 2005
(0,33 l bottle) Sampled at Pub Italia, Ottawa. Pours a medium, foamy, white head with an orange-amber body. The nose is mildly grassy malty and eggy. The flavours were much the same with perhaps a brief appearance by weeds. Nothing spectacular here...
1.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20 biz82 (1328) - austin, Texas, USA - DEC 18, 2004
Orange in color with an abundance of floaters and little head. Looks like marmalade. Strong caramel aroma with some toasted malt and honey also. Quite watery in mouth feel and a bit oxidized too. Lacking in flavor.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 trokini (1027) - San Diego, California, USA - MAY 15, 2006
UPDATED: NOV 7, 2007 Not good. Pours clear amber with floaties and a quickly-dissipating head. Aroma of stale malt. The taste is acidic; some malt with yeast, but mixed together to form the dreaded sweaty gym sock. Avoid.
