Bottle @ home. Golden to orange color, cloudy. Big, dense white head with retention throughout. Aroma’s: refereshing, fresh hops, citrus, fruity hops. Retronasal there’s additionally resin and citrus. Flavor is moderate bitter, but still rather mild. Light to medium bodied. Soft carbonation. Finishes with a long bitter flavor. Nice!

Off white creamy head. Light amber cloudy colour. Aroma is malty, fruity with pear, apple, orange and light hoppy notes. Flavor is moderately hoppy with fruity (grapefruit and apple) and light spicy tones, ending in a dry hoppy finish. Light to medium bodied.

33cl bottle from Belgium. It pours a clean golden color with a large white head. Aroma is crispy, grainy, bready, with grassy and citrousy hops. Taste is similarly crisp, lightly bitter, with more notes of grass, pine needles, hay and citrus peel. Light bodied with good carbonation. Overall, ok but less vibrant than many De La Senne better beers

Pour is dark amber with a tight white head. Nose is earthy and grainy with a moderate peppery spice, leathery brett, nice farmhouse notes. Flavor is a bit thinner, dry finish, somewhat malty, nice grain and farmhouse notes. Peppery in back, nice tang. Light body soft carb, easy drink.

popery (1579) - San Francisco, California, USA - FEB 27, 2015
The beer is light orange with a medium white head, fine foam. The liquid is somewhat hazy. Sweet tangerine and pepper spice in the aroma. There’s a mild raisin sweetness. Very mild medicinal note. There’s an herbal flavor bouncing around. Taste is moderate to medium sweet with some grassy, peppery bitterness in the finish. Medium body. Not bad but there’s not much to recommend, either.

Bottle from Mi Orge Mi Houblon, Arlon, Belgium!
Pours clear strong golden yellow with a flat head. Smell has belgian yeast, some fruity and spicy notes. Starts very spicy, perfumey, bitter hoppy with some herbal notes as well as some yeast. Finish has some perfume, lots of herbs, spices and belgian yeast. Unfortunately not my kind of style...

(33cl from de la senne - labelled as #2) pour cloudy very pale golden with a tall off-white head showing good retention and lacing. healthy yeast, sulfur, very grassy and herbaceous, citrus, grapefruit, pine; pils and pale spicy and bready maltiness, plenty of other spices. average carbonation, light body - oily and creamy mouthfeel, assertive grassy-spicy-peppery finish. seems a lot more belgian than the version brewed at tdd - perhaps an authentic yeast combined to a more herbaceous hop varietal. nice offering!

Nice cloudy yellow color. Rather strawish, quite nice ! The nose is mainly citrucy and fruity (maybe grapefruit or tropical fruit), great altogether. Taste is very nice with an initial bitterness bite which is not too strong followed by a a long hoppy finish mixed with fruty notes. Very quenching ! I really like Brasserie de la Senne’s products and this collaboration with Le trou du Diable is marvelous. Je conseille vivement !

500 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy, flakey, whitish pale golden with a nice white head. Aroma is lemon, grapefruit, vanilla, tropical fruit. Flavor is lemon, mango, pepper, menthol. Finish is lemon, quite bitter. Some herbs and grapefruit. Lingering hops bitterness. Medium body, average carbonation. One of the most purely refreshing belgian ales I’ve had.
