Bottle, shared by me... in my dining room... just now.
Pours a very hazy blonde with a very large tight head and decent lacing on the glass.

The aroma has some pear, some wet limestone, a little pineapple, and some herbal hoppiness. It’s an odd combo, but it’s not dissimilar to many of the other De La Senne beers, and is in fact very pleasant the way it’s balanced.

The beer is basically pretty dry with a moderate level of bitterness. It’s got a mild funky earthiness to it and a nice bit of herbal hoppiness. The minerallity is very nice as is the mild spiciness & pineapple.

Totally similar to many other hop forward De La Senne beers, although I wouldn’t be surprised if I found out this one was done with Brettanomyces.

~14 oz draft pour in a Lost Abbey tulip type glass at Proletariat in New York. The pour is a lightly hazed golden yellow, with a one inch white head that falls with nice coating lace. The aroma is grass hay earth, with a nice mineral edge. Overall, leafy is the best descriptor of the nose I can come up with. The taste is the same leafy dry grass straw of the nose, crisp cracker malt and the mineral in the finish. The palate is light bodied, with bright active carbonation, and a super crisp clean dry leafy mineral finish. Delicate, delicious.

Bottle bought somewhere I can’t remember. Pours hazy cloudy golden with a big frothy white head that slowly dissipates while leaving some soapy lacing on the glass. Smell is fruity, spicy and slightly phenolic with crackers, dry soil, hay, pepper corns, pears, grapefruit rinds, mango, pineapple, star fruit, dry soil, lemon zest, coriander and hints of pine needles. Taste is bitter, fruity, spicy and slightly phenolic with crackers, dry soil, hay, pepper corns, coriander, grapefruit juice, grass, pine needles, mango, papaya, pineapple, star fruit lemon zest and hints of lemony soap. Mouthfeel is crisp, dry, astringent and light bodied. Finish is bitter and phenolic with crackers, grapefruit juice, dry soil, pepper corns, coriander, hay, lemon zest and hints of unripe tropical fruits. Very tasty and very refreshing!

Bottle. Light golden, hazy, average to large and mostly diminishing head. Moderate, malty – faintly wheaty and sweetish aroma, light caramel and some tropical fruitiness with some grapefruit hoppyness. Body is medium, malty – faintly wheaty and lightly sweetish - sweetish flavor, some caramel and light tropical fruitiness, some grapefruit hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and lightly sweetish, light caramel and fruitiness, some grapefruit - piney hoppyness, light alcohol. Nicely hopped Belgian ale. Bit too sweet/too much caramel for me. In the finish bitterness gets bit sharp/soapy.

Bottle. Hazy golden, whitish head. Fruityness, bit of spicyness and some minerals on the nose. Some breadyness too. Grassy bitterness and citrus fruityness in taste. Lemony juicyness and summer meadow towards the finish. Pleasant one.

Bottle at Nuetnigenough. Aroma is citrus and resinous hops, bit stinky. Taste is good, feels a bit heavy, but lots of yeastiness, some citrus. Bitterness at end. Nice.

Cloudy straw colored pour. Foamy, small, white head. Little bit of lacing. Big sour aroma that drowns everything else out. But there is some hints of malt and hops. Taste is a bit sweeter with some yeast notes, bitterness, and a citrusy note. Not too bad once you get past the aroma that doesn’t seem to fit.

33cl bottles, Geers, bb? (brewed 05/2014). A crooked altar provides an oblique metaphor for what you would imagine a slanted transatlantic collaboration between two idiosyncratically Romance and cryptocatholic anarchist breweries would look like: the Devils’s Hole has done a great and fruity number on the stubborn series of Belgian ales De la Senne has been putting out lately: more fresh peach and some pink grapefruit in the nose, accompanying that house yeast strain’s earthy, aniseed-infused chalkiness. Pours rather cloudy, soft milkshake, with ample protein. Not getting much malt spice from the added rye, in fact the middle part is a bit thin, but pleasantly lush and soggy. Somehow a milk rice, transparent sake quality to the palate. Glad to have bought a few to revisit, as this beer’s unfocused subtlety kindles the imagination as much as its crooked metaphor.
