A very very good "black IPA".
Thick black color, nice beige head.
Roasted aromas with a hint of hops.
Starts as a stout in taste, with roasted malts and full body and ends up in a bitter hoppy aftertaste. very nice beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Medium, rather dense dark-beige head over virtually black beer. Rather warm chocolate nose, with some spicy, but discreet hops. Bit of bubblegum and herbs. Dry, coffeeish, even stoutish flavours; dry-roasted barley. Hops are again just there in the background, mild and discreet. Little or no hopbitterness, sweetish and roasted malts in evidence. Plywood and coffee retronasal. Well-carbonated, medium bodied at best, bit sticky MF. A bit light on the hops, IMO. If you call it black IPA, guys, go for them!

Birra dal carattere deciso e dal palato importante. Una persistenza prolungata con forti sentori di caffè e leggeri di liquirizia. Un’altra prelibatezza di De la Senne

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Malting Pot. Pours a beautiful dark color with a persistent creamy head. A delicious mix between a stout and an IPA. Roastiness of the dark beer plus hoppiness make this beer refreshing but still tasty.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle, 33cl, Geers. Pours black with a tanned head. Nose is well balanced between IPA (grapefruit, tropical fruit) & black (roasted coffee). Palate is great, silky, medium to low carbonation. Taste is well balanced between roasted bitterness and hopbitterness. This is only my third black IPA, and my first Belgian BIPA. It’s a great example.
