Bue en bouteille de 33cl à la brasserie. Couleur rubis, belle mousse, peu d’effervescence. Nez sur le malt frais. Attaque sur le caramel, le grillé, le sucre candy avec une grosse pointe amère en fin de bouche. Clairment pas une Black IPA, plus une dubbel.

33cl bottle as Zwarte Piet 8,5 ABV@Bartof Sation in Leffe glass@approx 6 degrees C. Pours almost black with lasting, creamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and cane sugar. Very close to a porter, only slightly more hoppy. Rroasted malt, dark sirup, coffee and a twist of tar and liquorice. The hops mostly comes in in the aftertaste, where a slight bitterness appears. Ok mouthfeel but not as creamy as a great porter. Good meditation beer, though the taste does not reveal a lot more secrets as the beer heats up. It is what it is and that is not bad at all. And I am still undecided about the not very politically correct label, which apparently is no more.

From Festival de las Naciones. In Duvel glass. Playing Goodbye Deponia.Good but with more coffee and less aroma and bitterness than I would expect in an IPA.

10-SEP-2015, draft @Delirum Cafe - Hoppy Loft, with Ulkløbben. Clear, dark Brown with lasting, creamy tan head. Roast and coffee, not all that hoppy. Some hops in the aftertaste and a dry hopped feeling. Grassy, citric. 8% well hidden. Not great but OK.

Right, her goes my first official rating. Bottle @ home, bought at the Lambiekstoempers festival. Pours dark ruby, very light carbonation, small but beautiful light brown head. Aroma is nicely hoppy with hints of malt and chocolate, I get a slight hint of something sharply herbal in the background. Taste of lovely hops, could use a tad of more hop-bitterness that lingers longer than this to my personal taste, but chocolate and malts are there, I like its subtleness, hints of bayleaf, slight silty aftermatch on the tongue, somewhere a suppressed malt(?) sweetness. Hopss and chocolate, silky mouthfeel, and dry aftermath that makes me want anotherone. Maybe slightly too light coloured for the real black-ipa, but I like it all the same, it’s well balanced!

Durchaus süffig mit einem guten schuss Schoko und etwas Karamell. Etwas Vanille im Hintergrund. Dazu einfach zu trinken und mild im Abgang. Nett.
