4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 JoeinEscazú (1181) - San Jose, - APR 3, 2007
UPDATED: MAR 4, 2008 75 cL @ Delirium. Faded yellow beer with thin, lasting head. Aroma of lemons and dust. Starts just a tad sweet and evolves into lemony, mildly sour, with some mustiness and wood. Medium body with low carbonation. Very refreshing. Yet another one from this brewery that I appreciate more every time I get a taste. RE-RATE: These bottles are funkier and more awesome with age. Too bad there’s so few of them left! Wish I had some stashed in the cellar. Still available at Moeder Lambic.

Aged version, stored in cellar for about 4 years
Golden colour, white head, initially firm but diminishing later. Tart geuze aroma, silage, horses, malts, light fruity wine notes. Tart flavour, fruity, wheat, light oak and wood notes. Tart finish, quite astringent, very dry. Lovely and balanced.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 ggaughan (99) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, LUXEMBOURG - MAR 1, 2009
This beer is Zinnebir aged in oak for 9 months with lambic added.
I just purchased this bottle today and the shop owner told me that it should be put in the fridge and handled gently due to the addition of lambic in the cask or something along those lines. The bottle was 75cl and sealed with a cap and cork.
As soon as I yanked out the cork I was greeted with a rush of foam and beer. I tried not to lose too much but a few ounces got out on me. I handled it gently and cooled it but it still got crazy.
The beer poured a cloudy golden color with a very thick and almost soapy looking head. The head lasted and lasted and gave off some great solid lacing. The aroma of the beer is funky with citrus notes going on, earthy. The taste is refreshing and citrusy. I get notes of orange, lemon and after awhile some pineapple, very pleasing. The body is full as well, almost has a champagne like body and carbonation composition. There are some vineous notes in there but the lambic tartness, not too tart, is the real treat in this beer. Pleasant suprise.

Wow, simply wow.
Pours beautiful with a large, foamy, head. As it slowly fades a sticky and strong lacing is left on the glass. And it never fully fades, left id a cm thick surface covering foam. Basically, there are soap suds in this beer. The color is hazy and thick but not muddy or murky. One cannot see through it but it has a sunshine irradiating hue. Looks like the sun is shining straight through the beer. Just beautiful, especially with the lightly visible carbonation. Aroma is lots of barnyard/cobweb lambic blended beautifully with perfume-like Belgian malts, which are very low key. The lambic part dominates. Further, lightly grassy and light leather, again perfectly melded. Taste is almost all kambic, spiky, cobweb filled leather and a nice long dryness. Throughout the flavor there is a light Belgian pale sweetness lovingly playing off the lambic flavors. Its not in your face with any one aspect. Nice light lemon zest in the back of the throat. 750mL from Beer Mania, no date, white wine glass, split 3 ways at home.

Bottled. Hazy golden colour with small white head, which lasts for quite a bit. Leaves nice lace. Aroma is earthyness, mild notes of sour fruits, wood and yeast. Flavour is very much sour fruits, yeast and some wooden hints mixed in. A wellbalanced brew which does the "sweetish sour" thing very well. Refreshing.
