3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
From 330ml bottle, lightly hazed (some yeast sediment unsettled) gold with a billowy and sticky white head. Dried flowers, calcium / minerals, pineapple juice, pithy lemon citrus, uncooked dough. I like the malt body and light sweetness across the front but the back is a different story. Highly effervescent, almost too much so, giving it a brash edge which amplifies the highly bitter Strisselspalt-like hops (herbs, flowers / honeysuckle, lemon) hops leaving a brutally dry finish. It’s a bit of a brute but it’s enjoyable, just not Taras-Boulba-at-its-best enjoyable.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz. bottle about 5 months old. It pours a hazy light yellow color with a massive, foamy white head. The aroma jumps out right away as a bit skunky and grassy with more minor notes of orange, citrus and bread. Definitely getting a little spicy, skunked noble hops plus some citrus. The flavor is way hop forward with lots of citrus rind bitterness and some orange/lemon. Light and grainy with a very mild yeast presence which surprised me. Pretty crushable, but I wish I had bought this when it was fresh, as it seems to have dropped off a bit… the bottle does say best by 10/13/14 though.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
33cl bottle. Pours a bright lightly hazed pale straw yellow with a big airy white head on pour that settles to a thin even layer and spoty lacing. Touch of eggy sulfur up front, young/green hay, hops are a touch lemony with a bit of soap. Dry, bitter hay up front, bits of lemon and noticeable spelt taste lingers long into the finish.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled 10/10/13, drunk 3/9/14
Looks exactly like Taras Boulba; pale, carbonated and topped by endless amounts of snow white head.
Delicate, perfumey hops in the nose are backed by fully attenuated pils malt. Very strong and sniffable. Wow, at almost 5 months old, this must have been unbelievably hoppy fresh. Extremely clean but expressive yeast gives off nectarine and light apricot-like fruitiness but it’s all absorbed by the supreme happiness. Flowers, lavendar, lemons, lime zest. Very well-done. No alcohol, no flaws.
Soft, malty body yet the sweetness never hits, leaving the hop bitterness and lightly tart yeast phenols to do the work. Just a brush of honey over the canvas....
Incredibly drinkable. Certainly "crushable" if that’s what they mean by that, and indeed, I’m almost finished with the beer less than a minute after pouring it. Like a blend of saisonhands and taras boulba. Delicate, dainty, but very flavorful thanks to such lovely happiness. What do get when two brewers that produce some of the most delicate, understated beers in the world collaborate? A beer that goes down very fast and very easy. Superb.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20

Hazy yellow - gold beer with a good white head. Light crisp palate, airy and semi dry. Light minerals. Light floral yeast. Bitterish grapefruit, yellow grapefruit pith. Finishes softish with more floralness and a medium bitter linger. Decent.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottles ordered direct from Belgium. Served side by side in a De La Senne cervoise and Tired Hands wine glass. Nose is really beautiful with citrusy and tropical American hops with some leafy, earthy saison yeast underneath. The flavor is a bit chalky and doesn’t live up to the nose. I wondered if this might have been released a little young, as the bottles that I had got progressively better. Mouthfeel light and a little bit silky otherwise. Nice bitterness level.
