3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
vintage 2014 (bottled 2013) De la senne always brews a good beer. This one ages real well, as do all their beers (even the hoppy ones!)
Bought a case last year and must say I was dissapointed as it seemed close to their already amazing Stouterik. Too bad they didnt actually put any chocolate in there, as we Belgians are surrounded by ,on a daily basis. Especially for a beer that is mostly exported.
The chocolate aromas and taste coming from the malt just dont push it to make it the chocolate stout im looking for. Ace beer, but nothing more.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught @ Van Moll Brewpub De La Senne Tap Takeover. Very dark brown to black color, average sized tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is malts, a lot of chocolate and cocoa, lightly earthy. Taste malts, dark malts, chocolate strongly again, lightly earthy, a hint of roast, moderately bitter. Decent body and carbonation.

From tap at Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Pours almost black with small firm tan head. Aroma has chocolate, roasted malt, slightly sour, yeast spiciness. Taste has roasted malt, chocolate, medium bitterness, light to medium sweetness. Aftertaste is sweet and bitter, chocolate flavour, medium body, light carbonation. Very well balanced. Excellent.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Milk chocolate, roasted cocoa. Sweet creamy chocolate, bitter coffee finish. A bit too sweet for my liking, but still quite drinkable.

Bu à la pression en 33cl, bière noire avec une mousse très blanche crème, grosse attaque sur le grillé et le chocolat pas exceptionnelle pour autant.

UPDATED: MAR 6, 2015 Keg in Moeder Fontainas. Very dark brown in colour with a monster white head. Chocolate flavour indeed, mocha. Restrained flavours, smooth roastiness, not really bitter. An extremely drinkable stout.
Re-rate, again on tap in Moeder Fontainas. Lovely, I thought chocolate mLt. Silky smooth and drinkable, great beer.

Une bonne stout mais trop peu corpulente. Arôme café et chocolat comme on peut s’en douter :)

Tap at Delirium Reserve as Rio Brewing Belgian Chocolate Stout 4.5%. Pretty, shiny black with a low, tight, fine head. Somewhat spicy, chocolate nose. Dry flavor, lightly roasted, chocolate, clear Belgian yeast spiciness. Very light. Ok, but not all that interesting.
