3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured out of the bottle a rich black brown as all good stouts should. 40ºSRM.
Nose has some nice sweet barley-like aromas. Like a fresh baked barley loaf.
Carbonated mouthfeee. Gravid and full. Nice darkly roasted grain palate rounded off wih a slightly fruity tang to add a very nice body to the whole experience.
Finish is bitter that has some complexity to it, a charcoal, some herb-like flavors that are hoppy and a final clean almost fruit-like aftertaste.
A very carefully calibrated experience. The brewmaster poured some love into this batch.

bottle at scott’s bar, brussels
quite roasty almost astringent and thin, missing the body that someBelgian Stouts have. a little herbal, roast barley, low carbonation. a standard dry stout with nothing stand out.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Mild, malty aroma. Huge, billowing tan head. Very spritzy. Roasty with a tinge of sour. Quite thin for a stout, but that doesn’t take away from my enjoyment. Just call it something else.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
I’ve had this one a number of times and never understood why it’s made. It’s similar to a stout, but not. Dark, but not too dark. Small head, off white to tan. Little lacing. Too much sugary notes and too roasty in the mouth. Not good.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Fresh floral aroma, and of course plenty of roasty, caramel and chocolate aroma. Not as dark as some stouts, but rather dark brown. Clear liquid. Well balanced sweetness and bitterness - loyal to the style. Creamy texture, soft carbonation, semi-long finish. Not much foam, which decreases fast.
