Spiced, citrusy nose with pale malt. The flavor starts with pale malt, then a rather unusual (for a Belgian beer) hoppy bitterness enters and takes control of the tastebuds, all the way into the finish, and staying there for a good while. Medium fullness and quite dryish. As mentioned, it’s sort of unusual, but I also find it a strange one, and actually, too bitter. (080301) kkearn (1016), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 18, 2008 33cL bottle. Poured orange golden with a big white head into an Orval chalice. Earthy, floral aroma with some herbal and hop notes. Starts with sweet malt, but soon gives way to wheat and hops. Dry, musty finish. Interesting beer. agl108 (513), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA

Lightly fruity and yeasty flavor with a slightly piney, bitter finish. Thin and lacking adequate malty backbone. Surprised to see the low ABV. mirjukka (706), LOHJA, Finland

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 13, 2008 Light golden in appearence. I bought it because of the picture and so far I am not impressed by the beer itself. Maybebecause I drank it out of a snifter instead of a tulip that affected just enough but I doubt it. Not worth buying again. AgentSteve (1379), SF Bay Area, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 10, 2008 This was weird. Very hoppy for a Belgian, although the nose wasn’t as hop influenced. It wasn’t bad, but I wouldn’t seek it out. Pailhead (2610), Allen Park, Michigan, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 5, 2008 Bottle: The aroma is combination of citrus, lemon, floral notes, and yeast. It pours a hazy golden-orange with a moderate creamy white head with decent retention and spotty lacing. The flavor starts with a quick dose of citrus, yeast, and faint lemon. The finish has lots of floral and herbal hops. Light-medium bodied with a soft carbonation. TURDFERGUSON (1614), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Mar 28, 2008 Bottle from JoeinUccle. Thanks Joe. 33cl bottle. Poured into my orval goblet. Taras boulba is a cloudy, golden-yellow beer with a pillowy white head and great lacing throughout. Its really a pleasure to look at. I’m serious! :) I smelled citrus, lemon, and earthy hops along with a nice yeasty characteristic. Flavor is understated and awesome. Hops work so well in this beer. Its bitter at the right time. Its tart at the right time. Its sweet and yeasty at the right time. It all gels so well together. A really unique creation in the belgian beer world. I need more.
