The beer poured a cloudy golden color with a one inch plus head, thick and fluffy. The nose gave me notes of citrus and an earthiness. Taste was smooth, lemon citrus on the tongue. There is a nice hop kick in the mouth but it is not overpowering bur rather pleasing to the taste buds. Overall this is a fairly easy drinking well balanced beer. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 21, 2009 Thanks to Glouglouburp for the bottle! Opaque yellow-gold with a frosty white head. Nose of orange, yeast, slight pepper and lemon. Sweet flavor of hop, citrus, butter, and yeast. Oily body, rather thin, and with a moderate finish in orange and bitter hop. Nice, balanced beer that one could session easily, but it comes up short against the best Belgian Ales. JCB (1799), Durham, North Carolina, USA

Hazy golden pour, with a lively but not chaotic head. Retention is average, less sticky than a blonde or saison. The aroma is crisp, bitter, hoppy, and promises a spicy taste. Full and lively mouthfeel, with a nice dose of pepper that blends well with the grass and resin. Mildly musty and the faintest hint of fruit. Very fine. golubj (1301), Sunnyvale, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 18, 2009 Bottle. Blond / yellow pour with some bubbly white head. Aroma is grain, light chalk, some light banana sweetness and floral hops. The flavor is the same, but somewhat bitter from hops that taste like earthy plant oils and peppery spicing mixed with the hopping as well. scrizzz (1352), kirkland, Washington, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 10, 2009 Hazy gold, looks dense, clingy dense white head. Soft cotton aroma, very gentle. Quick burst of flowering hops right into a pillowy soft easy Belgian golden finish. Everything has fallen off and I will seek it out later. True, I was expecting something different, and now that I know it is 4.5% I will look at it differently. willblake (2193), Belcamp, Maryland, USA

Pretty sure I had this with Paul a while back, too, maybe at BBF last year. Clouded golden color with small but creamy, lasting white head and active eff. Spicy aroma, peppery, grassy, and saison-like with mild yeast notes. Flavor is grassy, biting, sharp. Little to no sweetness at any point from malts or oxidation. Nice and refreshing, lingering astringent pithiness at the finish, or is that light spruce, eh maybe both. Very little left behind on the palate, rather it is quenching, clean, quick. Fresh, fresh, fresh vibe with this beer. A real treat and definitely worth the rare session. A night of these and Orval would be great.
