75 cL bottle at Moeder Lambic. Pours clear and golden orange with a small, semi lasting and white head. Aroma is mild fruity, leathery and crisp citrusy. Vague ashtray/sulphorish touch. Mild fruity, light citric to acidic. Dry, bitter, citric and yet crisp fruity finish - almost acetic into the far finish. Shivering citric, dry, crisp and mild fruity. Very elegant. Lasting smooth citric impression into the far finish.

Bottled@Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Hazy goldeny orange colour with a small white head. Some floaties. Aroma is sour wood, tart fruits and some quite berryish notes. Flavour is rather Cantillonish sour wood and tartness along with some nice fruityness and mild vanillaish and wooden notes. Pleasant blend.

750 ml bottle shared with Greg, Ruth, DC and the bar in the presence of Mr. Obama and his secret service (fundraiser, apparently). Cloudy straw color, small white head. Aroma of barnyard, dust, lemon peel. Taste resembles a very sophisticated geuze! Very nice example of a wild ale, exactly on style. I wonder what Jean v.R thinks of this one??

Jambe de Bois and Cantillon Lambic

Cloudy deep blond color; small head. Mild but very complex aroma: malt, plastic, Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, citrus fruits. Good body, dynamic mouthfeel, given by the acidity; very good blend of the sourness from the Lambic and some residual sugars; delicate fruitness. Wonderful.

Bottle at Moeder Lambic during Paul’s pre-wedding beer celebration, Brussels. Pours foggy gold with a soft, white head. Grass and mild fruit in the aroma. Big, ripe mouth-puckering flavor with eye-quivering sourness, some light sugars, decent grassy bitterness, slight fruit notes. Light to medium bodied with lively carbonation. Very tart finish, like tart Warheads, with mild sweetness and tangy but sweet lemon. Very nice. More sour than some of the other sours I’ve had today. Definitely lip-puckering, if you catch my drift. Poured from the proper sour basket. Good stuff.

Hazy orange color, small steady white head. Sour, grapefruity, Cantillon-like aroma. Medium-bodied. Very fruity, sour with goose- and cranberries. On the background nice sweetness. Extremely balanced, this is a good blend. Cantillon dominates, but Jambe-de-Bois kicks some additional fruityness in.

A: the beer pours a cloudy golden orange color with a nice white head. S: A light sweet malt/bread flavor to it. Otherwise, the lambic has really taken over. Nice straw and grass funk to it with lots of earth and lemon zest. A distinct wet oak aroma and a moderate tartness. T: Light to moderate tartness with plenty of lemon and lemon zest flavors. Straw and wet grass with a light earthiness. A hint of must and oak. Not super complex, but still good. M: Medium in body with a medium to high carbonation and a dry finish. O: Was glad to get to try this one. A pretty interesting beer and a pretty good one, too.
