   AROMA 7/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 4/5   OVERALL 13/20
JorisPPattyn (7887) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - OCT 31, 2004
UPDATED: JUN 4, 2005 Amber-orange, clear (with very bottle-sticking yeast); quite stable, off-white head. Very "beery" nose: malt, some hops - the smell that greets one upon entering a (not-too-smokey) pub. Faint citruspeel. Strange, dry, sweet-bitter taste, with a not exactly welcoming flavour of human sweat. Some ambrée malt is obvious, and a slight spicey touch. At 5.5%, obviously not very dense, but very dry - I suspect a very high attenuation. Technically impressive, but I miss some character here. Again, for a first try much better than "succeeded". Retasted draught at Karakterbierfestival 06/2005 Much more hopbitter, making it outstanding - would score 8/10 for flavour, and 17/20 overall. Very strangely, ’sweat’ impression is there still, but the hops make it palatable.

Poursa cloudy golden hue with a smal white head. Aroma of yeast, and straw and flavors of spiced malts and a light finish.

Bov (9452) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - MAY 18, 2005
6% version - hazy red-orange colour, fine and firm head, fruity aroma (apple, apricot) and a touch of spices (cloves ?), creamy mouthfeel, slightly oily, medium malt body, light bitterness before a moderate malty and fruity (old apples) finish

bierkoning (10162) - La Tropica, NETHERLANDS - OCT 28, 2005
6% on the label. Light amber color. Hoppy, citric vanilla aroma. Hoppy flavor with citrus and a hint of pear. Just a bit on the thin side, but a well made and quite drinkable Belgian ale with a long hoppy aftertaste.

jbrus (4992) - Delft, NETHERLANDS - MAR 30, 2006
Bottled, blind tasting session. Light malty aroma with a hint of citrus. Also straw at first but this went when warming up and a little bit of sulfer came in. Yellow color, hazy, large white head, good lace. Sweet start but this diminishes quicky, light sourness and a good starting bitterness that increases more and more, dry mouthfeel. Highly drinkable and refreshing beer.

Bottle sampled at Belgian beer tasting at State Line with Beerded_one. Pours hazy golden\orange with a nice white head. Aroma of citrus, belgian spices, and yeast. Flavor is smooth, spices, citrus, yeast, honey, and carbonation. Good body, good brew.

Bottle at home. Another excellent beer from de la Senne. Perky nose, bitter, hoppy taste. Good carbonation and thorougly enjoyable.

Silphium (3167) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - NOV 24, 2006
Hazy dark straw-colored body with abundant yeast sediment, thick puffy buff head. Herbal aroma, rich with flower petals and a touch of light fruit, biscuity. Light bready body, estery, coming across as an herbal tea with flower petals and bitterness and light sugary notes. Crisp palate with decent complexity. Enjoyable.

Murphy (1759) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - DEC 1, 2006
Oak aged version. Dark yellow, hazy with tons of particulates. Bready, yeasty aroma, light lemon. Bitter hops, light citrus in the flavor. Finish is bitter, grainy.

reakt (950) - Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 21, 2007
UPDATED: SEP 1, 2007 bottle sample from utobeer. The guys from De la Senne were on hand to confirm my reaction - hoppy! Loads of hops in the nose with lemongrass and citrus. Taste of grass, hops, yeast and citrus with floral notes. Dry finish. Really crisp. Not my favourite from this brewery, but still fairly good.
