(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 27 Feb 2015) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with caramel, dark bread, raisins, prunes and roasted grain. Malty, roasted taste with notes of dark bread, toasty grain, raisins, prunes and a balanced, spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Tasty and well balanced. Quite nice.

Pours dark brown with a bubbly off-white head. Aroma is bready, yeasty, tad alcoholic with some malty senses. Mainly sugar. Typical dubbel nose, nothing too special. Taste is mildly bitter with a late sweetish kick in it. Clear notes of bread, bananas, some chocolate, some roasted malts, spices, yeast, berries and some liquorice (mainly in the beginning though). Decently balanced, but lacking further complexity. Palate is a bit disappointing on the watery and thinnish side with too much carbonation to my likings. This brew could definitely handle a more creamy and sticky texture. This wateriness definetely does not combine with its taste. More body would give it a bit more of the oomph that it deserves.

Bottle. Nice dark brown with almost ruby red hue. Brown sugar, marzipan, lots of herbs and German hops, light roasted grains, dried plums. Slight watery texture, medium bodied. Another sub-par beer from de Leckere, though this is not their worst effort, and I like how it's not too sweet.

Aroma of sweet malts, caramel, candy sugar, raisins. Flavour is cloying malty caramel sweetness. Could use more depth. Typically too sweet Belgian Dubbel.

30cl bottle @ home from Bert’s Bierhuis. Dark reddish-brown color, medium brownish head, medium lacing. Aroma caramel, likeur, dark fruits in the nose, flavor is more caramel, medium roasted malt, mokka, dates, wine notes. Taste medium sweetness, medium bitterness, light sourness. Medium to full body, oily feel, soft carbonation, strong bitter-sweet finish but not long lasting. Fine dessert beer, but a bit too sweet for me, don’t like the sourness, and there is a kind of watery sidetaste.
