33cl bottle. Foam advances swiftly up the neck. Somewhat over carbonated. A brown beer. Body is thin and astringent. Winey MF and possibly unintentional sour notes. Probably a different bottle/ brew but I paid for it so I’ll review it.

Bottle, 33cL. Bought @Brugs Bier Festival, 2016. A very dark brown beer, nearly black, with a big beige creamy foamy head ; great retention ; good lacing. Roast, toast, chocolate, herb, toffee, biscuit. Light to medium sweet, light medium dry bitter refreshing. Medium body, average texture, light creamy, average carbonation, sweet toasty lasting dry finish. Overall, a really good brown begian ale ; nice toasty malty character and texture ; easy drinkable.

Donkerbruin bier met snelzakkende beige schuimkraag. Fruitig in de neus met mout en karamel. Smaak is licht zurig met hoptoets. Mondgevoel is licht met mooi koolzuur en korte afdronk.

Bottle. Very hazy brown with a tan head. Aroma of overripe dark fruit, yeast, caramel and malt. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with light carbonation.

Donker roodbruin bier met weinig schuim en vlug weg. Geur: granen, brood, licht gebrande mout toets. Smaak: wat metaal, licht zuurtje van overrijp fruit, wat zoethout. Licht biertje, medium koolzuurprikkel. Afdronk: licht zuurtje, fruitig. Niet mijn favoriet van de brouwerij.

Amber body, creamy head. Fermenting fruity, strawberry marmelade, cereal, light funk. Not so bad, add some hop and it would be quite nice indeed. Taste is more straightforward, cookie dough sweetness, but a bit underwhelming. Needs some roast or some nicer characterful yeast. Or, dare I say again, hops. Richer than the industrial widespread Ambrée beers though. (33cl bottle from ABS Drinks)

Aroma off the bottle vanished after a few seconds. Short lived in the glass too. A shy abbey double.

For the aroma, either way my nose is out of order, or it was really weak. For the taste, for me it’s like a soft/light version of a Chimay Bleue. It’s good, but lack of character and body, it should be stronger. In summary, this beer is good if you want to have the taste of Chimay Bleue without the force of it.

bottle at home from trade with bartlebier, thanks Frank. BB 24.06.2014. brown unfiltered color, medium big off-white head. malty sweet and also malty roasty taste, citric, light smoky, light creamy, light sour. medium body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes sour, fruity, cherries, grainy, citric, light astringent, light smoky. dry / light fruity sour finish. aftertaste has some ash and tobacco, a bit unpleasant. overall decent beer, taste is a bit boring though, something missing, or maybe just not fresh enough.
