Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, earth, berries, sourness and bitterness. Aftertaste was tart and bitter. A somewhat contaminated dubbel.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours dark brown , with a red glow . Small white head. Smell is rather sweet, buttery grains , slightly earthy , leaves .
Taste is spiced, bitter, earth , very light ( wattery - not used to this in the de leite beers ) . Carbonation is very fine but perhaps a tad too much . Think this could make a good base for an ’imperial version ’ , but this is just too damn wattery for me ... As usual with the de leite beers, the label is just so damn ugly and bad , you are always surprised by the fact that the beer doesnt suck . Yet I must day I liked the other ones of this brewery more ...

1.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
Dark brown beer with a red shine. Very low saturation, has a creamy beige stable head. No kling.
Smells oxidated, chocolaty, a hint of coffee, a bit of raisin, negative hint of wet carboard.
Tastes irony and sweet, also tastes oxidated.
Palate is full and leaves a negative taste.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
33 cl. bottle @ home. Procured from Willems. Bottled on 26/03/2014. Furniture / wood brown, big creamy tanned head. Heavy liquorish smell, furniture, polish & lots of leaves, eh. Bitter leaves, allspice, light anis, liquorish, varnish, furniture, polish taste, mineral feel to it. Mineral, faint metallic, touch fizzy body. Okay but far from top in the executed style, there are a lot of middling beers like this in Belgium & I expected something better from De Leite. I’m used to much better from them.
