Red with a small pink head. Strong cherry aroma with a touch of funk. Dry and tart flavour with sour cherries and a little leather and barnyard funk

Bottle sample @ VBPF ’13. Acajou, col fin beige.

(draught) pours a murky deep ruby colour with a creamy pink head. aroma of cherries, lemons and orange peel, with a hint of vanilla, blackberries and bread dough. flavour is mostly the same, cherries, banana and herbal hops, with a hint of sugar icing and light alcohol in the finish. medium to heavy-bodied with very soft carbonation.

Tap @ ZBF 2013.
Pours completely red with a small, creamy, pink head. Aroma has cherries, marzipan, light red currant, good malty wheat. Medium to low carbonation, nice dry mouthfeel. Flavour is fairly bitter, cherries, tart, light marzipan. Pleasant zinging tart finish.

14/III/13 - 33cl bottle @ home (Gent) - BB: 13/XI/14 (2013-241) Thanks to Jerre for getting me the bottle!

Cloudy ruby red beer, big fizzy pink to red head, unstable, dissipates immediately, non adhesive. Aroma: very fruity, fresh cherries, cherry jam, some chloride, sourish, lemon, dairy, yoghurt, bit cheesy. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: surprisingly bitter start, bit grassy, slightly fruity, sour cherries, but quickly overpowered by bitter metallic flavours. Aftertaste: some citric acidity, slightly fruity, bitter hops, metallic, cherries, some dairy, bitter yeast.

Very good pink head, leaving lace over clear ruby beer. Smoked cherry nose. Not overpowering, but intriguing. Like old cherry skins on alcohol. Nice, dry, if not sour cherryflavour - but neither artificial. MF has a lipsmacking sourishness then, that is refreshing. Quite some (fruit?)slickness, grist; long fruity aftertaste. Very good non-lambic kriek. Misses maybe just a tad sourishness in order to appeal to greatness. Why not try, and recreate the Zottegemse Kriek from Crombé times...?
