Very good pink head, leaving lace over clear ruby beer. Smoked cherry nose. Not overpowering, but intriguing. Like old cherry skins on alcohol. Nice, dry, if not sour cherryflavour - but neither artificial. MF has a lipsmacking sourishness then, that is refreshing. Quite some (fruit?)slickness, grist; long fruity aftertaste. Very good non-lambic kriek. Misses maybe just a tad sourishness in order to appeal to greatness. Why not try, and recreate the Zottegemse Kriek from Crombé times...?

330ml bottle at home in Richmond as ’Cuvée Sœur’ise’, 8.5%, BB 2016. Really dark reddy brown, big foamy dense pink head. Aroma is vinegar, meaty, dark cherry, plasticine, rubber, red wine and some acetone. Lots going on. Body is light, a little foamy, soft carbonation. Taste is tart and sour with some lemon, cherry and varnish. A slow sipper. Just a bit harsh in places.

0.33 l bottle from Firma Bier. Dark red color with pink quickly dissipating head. Aromas of sour cherry, lingonberry and wet wood. Fat sour cherry taste with grapefruit, lingonberries and oak. Some aged meat broth like notes and hints of acetic acid. Fairly dry palate, yet full body. Drinkabilty is low, still a decent sipper.

330ml bottle - thanks rosenbergh and the posse at tiong’s
Sharp wood-gluey estery aroma (OK, they’re not esters, or glue, but *I* know what I mean by that). Some nice cherry juice too, cheerry stones included. No sign of 8%. Sour body is bloody lovely, a real tart bite. Cherry stones increase later. Good balance of woody ageing sourness and cherry juice sharpness with the sweetness of the base beer and the fruit. Enjoyed.
