Almost as mad as Alex himself. Big a boozy, massive resinous hoppage and stinging citrus. Excellent caramel base carries the madness well. Despite all the huge hoppage, it still seems to retain some poise and is almost soft at points. Very unusual and hugely enjoyable. skortila (2903), Bunnik, Netherlands

The aroma has caramel and quite a lot of grapefruity hops, which makes this quite a differently hopped bock ( as in more hops and other hops than most dutch bocks). Brown coloured beer with an off-white head. The taste is grapefruity, with the caramel. has some sweetness and ends dry. Okay. harrisoni (6798), Ashford, Kent, England

The aroma has notes of malt and berries. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and a bit of straw. Papsoe (14982), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 14, 2009 Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of yespr/fonefan. Pours a cloudy reddish brown with a creamy light brown head. Distinct, fat hop aroma. Medium body only - surprisingly - with caramel and fruit but completely dominated by the citrusy and almost astringent hops. Technically this may be a Doppelbock, but it would probably kill the traditional Bock drinker. 141109 yespr (12105), Copenhagen O, Denmark

Smooth yeasty note. Sweet caramelish and solid hoppy fruity. Dry and lingering hops fruity. Lingering roasted and mixed hops fruity flavoured. Dry and fruity finish. Stunning! | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 14, 2009 Bottle, 9.2%. Very nice grassy hop aroma. Slightly hazy dark brown colour. Small stable light brown head. The flavour is a lot like the aroma. Nicely grassy and caramelly from the hops. Like a good American DIPA, only rounder and milder. Still very flavourful.
