330ml brown bottle. Batch 02.01. Bottle number 0228. The beer pours an unclear (cloudy) light caramel brown colour with golden highlights. The head blows up to a huge 2 fingers in height, foamy and airy, cap. It is off white in colour. Decent clingy lace. Nose has some light caramel malts, pleasant US hop aromas - soft grapefruit and lemons stand out. Flavour has bright lemon notes up front, caramel malt, wheat. Finishes with a citrusy grapefruit bite. Light wheat aftertaste, quite dry. Medium bodied, carbonation. Not what I was expecting from a weizenbock. The US hops really make this beer stand out.

Bottle @ home. dark copper color and a large thick light beige head. Vinous aroma of dark fruits, notes of banana, caramel, dark bread, wheat. Taste is sweet with a smooth texture and big body. Fruity flavors of red apples, plums, raisins, spices, some banana, orange peel, caramel, wheat, cardboard. Assertive bitter finish with orange peel and hints of cloves lingering. While it has some nice aging properties, and has aged well (and despite the labels BF date of 2015-01), i’d say that being a hoppy weizen bock, it probably peaked 1-2 years ago.

Bottle from Bierkompass!
Pours dark amber colored with high, creamy head. Smell has strong yeast, hops and some perfumey alcohol. Starts strong malty, with lots of sweetish yeast and a perfumey note. Finish has lots of yeast, bitter malt notes as well as some alcoholic notes.

Bottled 17/09/14. I’ve had this a while and it’s aged really well. Pours mahogany coloured with a big whitish head. A good strong wheaty beer with loads of hops. A good sweet edge at first but then late sharp hoppiness takes over. Lovely complexity and superb depth, Ace.

Cardinal.

Backlog! On tap @ BBF1 (30 Oct. 2009). Brown, murky color. Aroma’s: citrus, refreshing, some roast & resin retronasal. Flavor is lightly medium bitter with some acidity from the hops. Medium bodied. finishes very bitter. Very nice, but hardly a bock.
