Dark brown/black colored brew. Nice brown head. Roasted aroma. Sweet, malty flavor with some tones of salmiak, licorice, , dark chocolate, caramel. Bitterness is not deep enough, it’s shallow and too sweet. Overall still a very nice brew. But could use more complexity and more intens bitterness.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jerohen (1793) - Bussum, NETHERLANDS - APR 5, 2008
Bottle # 553, obtained from the brewery. Dark brown coloured, brown head. Roasted malts and liquorice dominate the aroma. Somewhat sweet flavour, which later develops to be more bitter. Flavour’s not as complex as the aroma and i have the feeling it could use some more body. I can’t say i’m really impressed by this one. But luckily this brewery has many other fantastic brews.

Bottle # 54. Deep dark brown color. Roast, ash, hints of caramel and grapes in the aroma. Initial malty sweetness challenged by hints of licorice and dark chocolate. Earthy hops, grapes and roasted malt. Pleasant and easy to drink, with coughing syrup in the aftertaste. Tasty porter.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 DSG (3005) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - MAR 29, 2008
Bottle. Bottle #537. Dark brown to black-colored with a big, slowly-diminishing, beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, some cocoa and hints of spiciness. Sweet flavor of malt, roastiness of coffee and some chocolate, some dark bread, light acidity and yeast notes. Finishes mildly bitter with a bit of hops. Medium-bodied with a soft mouthfeel. Nothing astonishing, just a very good beer.
