3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Two-for-two from this brewery with this very enjoyable and basically well done porter. Chocolate aroma. A tiny head, though white bubbly on dark brown. A real natural carbonation that added to mouthfeel and drinkable. Taste is a tad sour, it works.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared by wickedpete on 8/29/08: Pours a transparent copper brown with a thin, spotty-lacing light tan head. Aroma of mild strawberry fruitiness and sweet toasty caramel. Body starts with a nice light caramel sweetness and toasty nutty flavors before a drier slightly bready finish. A pretty interesting brown porter.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A Mes rate. Bottle at Chris Oís pre NYE tasting. Dark cloudy brown with a decent beige head. Gorgeous fruity aroma with some good earthy notes and some lovely creamy alcohol. Typical De Molen flavour. Great chocolate notes with a massive hit of excellent hoppy bitterness. Slight soap hints from the alcohol but itís really not a bad thing. Straight forward but incredibly enjoyable. De Molen can do nothing wrong for me. Hats off to Menno.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
750mL bottle, #427, bottled 2/19/08. Poured medium brown with a creamy cap of tan head.. foam rolled out of the bottle for a while. The aroma picked up roasty, near burnt black patent malts paired with molasses and bakerís chocolate.. brighter earthy surroundings.. digging deep I found some lactose character. The flavor had the same black patent, chocolate, and molasses at the core, picking up some honey that really worked.. bitterness was roasty, but lacked definable character.. vanilla joined at the finish. Medium-bodied and too well carbonated on the palate.. milky tartness kept it lively and interesting.. not a great porter, but Iíd probably try it again (if it didnít cost so much).
