Bottlr. Aroma sweet and fruity. Strawberry, plum, light grape. Barley. Very dark brown colour. Beige stable head. Taste is a little bit rough and sour. Otherwise there is warm alcohol, sweet fruits, roasted malt. Rather sweet, but decent roast bitterness. Finish is warm

(draught) pours black in colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of heavy raisins and toffee, caramel, light dark chocolate, brown sugar and sugar icing. flavour is mostly the same, raisins, light toasted malts and dark chocolate, with a hint of alcohol, herbal hops and a light-bitter finish. heavy-bodied with soft carbonation.

Tap at De Molen. Poured a deep mahogany with a big frothy tan head. The aroma is roasted malt, leading to a strong bitter flavour with lots of malt and liqourice on a surprisingly smooth palate. The finish is a little weak.

2008. Its recommends to save for up to five years, so its past time to drink it. Aroma of chocolate cake and licorice. Taste is slightly sweet, alcohol, thin, not a long finish. Its probably too old for a fair rating.

Backlog. Bottle (young) enjoyed Sept. 2008. Very dark color (not quite black). Big uneven head. Aroma’s: coffee, heavy roast, acidic, some fruit. Flavor: burnt malts, drop/licorice (not sweet!). Quite strong alcohol feel. Prickly mouthfeel. Finish: ashy, but also mild mocha.
