3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
11.2 oz. bottle at home (though I shared a different bottle in 2009/2010 and didn’t enter the notes). Pours a dark cola brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have some roasted malts, lots of chocolate, a splash of coffee, hint of anise, the body is very light for an imperial stout, thin mouth feel, flavor is still good.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
33cl Bottle. First whiff is very chocolate and fudge forward with a light sweetness over any coffee or roast. Pour is a deep dark red, to brown, but well short of black. small-medium head that dissipates to a small film on top. Taste is immediately bitter with a dark chocolate note. Light in body but high in alcohol warming. This is weird. Like an imperial porter, but very light in body. overall, ok. I guess it is interesting from a historical aspect.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
330 ml bottle. Bottled 10th June 2011. From the brewery some years ago.
Black colour with a small frothy tan head.
Roasted malt, mild bitterness and some sweetness in the aroma. Airy.
The flavour is roasted malt, liquorice, salty liquorice, ashy dryness, mild sweetness and some medicinal notes. Fizzy. Super fizzy. The flavour is very nice but this over fizziness ruins the enjoyability.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
The Beer Store, Southampton PA 11.2 ounce: Pours black with almost no head. Aroma is smokey malts, molasses, coffee, Taste is somewhat sweet. Body is really sticky and chewy. Minimal bitterness, but there a kind of smokey aftertaste to be had there. Some minimal hop bite. Mostly an avalanche of burnt molasses though. Alcohol is, of course, well-covered.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
"i wasn’t as impressed by this one as the others were. it came of as rather pedestrian for the price and/or abv. not bad at all, but also does nothing that stood out from the pack. light-medium bodied for an impy."
