We have liked everything from de Molen so far, and the Triple Stout was no exception. Subtle, complex, smoky, slightly bitter chocolate tasting brew. This was bottle 474 of a batch of 696 bottles. Delicious.

330 ml bottle. Pours black with a moderate foamy tan head. Aromas of milk chocolate, vanilla, Roasted malts and a little alcohol. Flavors of same with emphasis on dry roasted malts plus a little black coffee and a lot more alcohol. Except for the noticeable ABV a really nice stout - rich though not sweet with all the essentials.

2/9/2009 10:09:23 AM Bier Koning. A wondrous Stout from de Molen. Dark brown with thin tan head. Dark roasty nose. Wondrous flavours of chocolates, dark berries, coffee. Thick and creamy texture that gets sweeter towards the finish.

Dark brown coloured body with a very thin, half centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of alcohol, roasted malt, earth, toffee, nuts, light hops, and a bit of soy sauce at the end - not so great. Light-bodied; Very thin malt notes with a touch of grain, but mostly a toffee and light pit fruit sweetness coupled with some mellow earthy notes and a touch of smoked peat. Aftertaste is very mild with the sweetness coming out, but not much other complexities. Overall, a very substandard beer, for the style, overall and especially the brewery - Iím not sure what happened here, but Iím definitely not getting this one again. That said, iím super happy that I bought this here stateside (still flew home with it), but that I didnít buy this in Holland and carry it back across the Atlantic - definitely not worth it at all for this beer. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Leukinís Liqour in Dunedin, Florida on 03-October-2015 for US$4,99 sampled at home in Washington on a chilly night of 06-January-2016, with a bottled on date of 24-May-2013. Bottle - Lots of dark cocoa notes and some nice chocolate sweetness. Much like a tootsie roll. Jet black with a rich and nice light brown head. Lots of bittersweet chocolate and coffee with some toasted notes. Finish is long but a bit thin. Nice

Pours a one-finger khaki head that fades quickly leaving traces lace. Dark opaque brown color. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Caramel and dark chocolate nose and flavor is balanced with caramel and baked chocolate. Higher ABV is hidden. Bottled 24/5/2013, $6.49 for a 330ml bottle from Julioís Liquors Westborough, MA.

Bottled on May 24, 2013. Consumed Sept 26, 2015. Aroma is chocolate malts and caramel. Taste is chocolate malts and caramel. Head is white and thin. Color is dark brown. Palate is thin, but flavorful and slight alcohol tingle. Very different.

Pours dark with a defined foam head that dissipates. The aroma is of roasted malts, mild smoke, chocolate, booze, and a light sugary sweetness. Tasting, I got mild tobacco, dark roasted malts, chicory, booze, and sugar. The finish has a medium bitterness, noticeable booze, and sugary roasted grain flavor. Overall this was an interesting treat.

2015.09.13-De Molen Triple Stout SSS-11.2 oz bottle in pint glass-Bottled May 24th 2013. Aroma-mild caramel, maybe, and dark malts. 7/10 Appearance-Deep deep chestnut brown, slow forming minimal head, minimal sticky lacing, slight outer ring. Slight dark sediment at bottom of glass. 5/5 Taste-Sweetish front end, probably the caramel malt, gives way to darker taste. I was about to gush that someone does roasted barley the way I like, subtle but prominent, then I look at label and see there is no roasted barley. In any case that is what it tastes like a superb application of roasted barley. It may be the Ken Goldings confusing me. 9/10 Palate-Down the middle, not watery or slick but not thick or creamy either. Kind of like thin to medium body with a thicker body of malt suspended. 4/5 Overall-One of the best brews by one of my favorite brewers. Repeat purchase. Like a light stout (I slammed this) but itís actually 9.99% abv. 14/20 ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
