4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Storm_Warning (28) - Suffolk, ENGLAND - JAN 27, 2012
Currently drinking while typing. First thing to hit you is the aroma of this beer, after pouring it gives you a wonderful full aroma of pears, peaches, apple, floral hops and gentle malts. The head on this beer is non existent which is a shame, and what I did get out of it dissipated in seconds leaving a view of the pretty golden hazy amber beer underneath. The taste is also exceedingly good full of floral hops, dry sugar, pear and a nice apple hoppy after taste that stays in the long run. A lack of carbonation makes it feel a bit thin in the mouth and not as good, if it held better carbonation it would be a seriously good beer! Worth buying for the aroma alone I think, but I do prefer De Molen’s Vuur & Vlam to this despite the different styles. Worth trying though!

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 Maris (466) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - DEC 26, 2011
From a 330ml bottle on 27/12/2011. Pours an extremely murky dark apricot with lots of light yeasty chunks, and a billowing head, due to the excessive carbonation (took quite a while for the head to die down to become drinkable). Has a moderate but pleasant fruity, caramel, honey aroma, which is not over the top by DIPA standards. Flavour wise, it’s very sweet with caramel, toffee and fruity notes. But it’s remarkably lacking in bitterness for a DIPA. I’ve had the standard pale ale with a bigger hop kick. The texture is fairly creamy. Reasonably enjoyable but a long way from being top flight.
