Bottle from biernavi.de, bottled 19/06/13. Dark orange, slightly hazy body, with medium, creamy, white head. Delicious, thick, complex tropical fruit cocktail in the nose, with papaya, mango, pineapple, passion fruit, orange, grapefruit, some caramelic malt. Taste with about the same multifarious fruit notes, but maybe a bit less complex and with a well balanced malt backbone, with grass, caramel and biscuit. Medium, slick mouthfeel, with a decent carbonation and finishes medium bitter, with complex fruit notes again and some grassy and bready notes. Amazing, complex, fruity and well balanced DIPA, that hides the high ABV very well and is dangerously easy to drink!

Bottle from Beers of Europe, drunk at home. Dark gold, hazy, almost orange, minimal carbonation and head. Heavenly aroma of honey, papaya, mango, sourdough and paper. Taste is initially balanced but the back-of-the-throat bitter takes over quickly. Syrupy mouthfeel, with a lingering mango flavour. It’s a joy to drink this incredibly well-crafted beer.

Bottle. Pours a very cloudy copperish hue, no real head. A little ring of white head and tiny bit of lace. Nose is sweet caramel notes, slightly tropical fruit. Tastes quite sweet, a little bitter but very light on that. Tastes like grapefruit and orange. Would like to try again more fresh example.

UPDATED: FEB 28, 2014 From a 33 cl bottle enjoyed with some smoked ribs. Pours a lead amber with an ecru head. Grassy nose. Flavors of tropical fruits with caramel and bitter hop goodness. Creamy mouthfeel. Mild bitter finish.

0.33L bottle. Fresh citrus, mainly grapefruit and little red orange aroma. Swet orange taste is first, medium sweet caramel and powdersugar cream cake on middle. Little rotten fruits flavor. Soft and easy finish. End could be harder and more bitterish. Slightly sweet and it takes points down. In summary, it is quite drinkable and my hangover disdapears like magic :)

Bottle sample. Hazy amber color, small beige head. Fruity hops, citrus and tropical (grapefruit), faint caramel notes. Juicy hop flavor, medium bitterness, alcohol well hidden but malt is a bit too tired, and hops are slightly old. Full body, must be fresh for optimum enjoyment.

Resembles barley wine a bit. Sweet taste and caramel, butterscotch, amber, hazy, minimal head, heavy cloying sweetness, medium bitterness, oily feel, flat.

De Molen Amarillo has an extremely thick, creamy, cream-colored, frothy head, a hazy, orange-gold appearance, with numerous tight bubble stream, heavy lacing left behind, and a descending gray cloud, once the bottom contents are swished and poured into the glass. The aroma is strong and rich- hop oil, caramel, toffee, and white bread. Taste is equally bold- rich, sweet bread crust, bread, caramel, toffee, char, hop oil, bitterness, candi sugar, regular sugar, and a brandy aspect from the pronounced alcohol. Mouthfeel is heavy and oily, and De Molen Amarillo finishes mostly dry, super-sweet, alcohilic, and decently drinkable. This beer is exceptionally good and almost worth the over $6.00 a bottle that is charged for it. A great, great beer! RJT

330ml bottle from Beermoth. Heavenly caramel / Amarillo aroma with a rich decadent blend merging orange, honey, citrus and casonnade. Sumptuous, intoxicating blend, marred just slightly by a tiny hint of vinegar on the finish.
