750ml bottle (Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam) BB201005 drunk 201101
6 Slightly muted aroma, basically very dark dense heavy bitter hops, a bit earthy, and resiny.
4 Deep slightly hazy orange, large tight creamy self-supporting white head.
7 Astonishingly hoppy taste, right from the first sip touching the top of your tongue to a full mouthful of the stuff, wave upon wave of hop taste bursts forth. The tingle of saaz is very clear, that makes the mouth really throb, but the fruitiness of the dry-hopped amarillo is quite dominant too. There’s a touch of soapiness, alas, that’s the only drawback. It’s not lacking in a sweet caramelly malty backbone either, but to petend this isn’t entirely hop dominated is naive.
4 Slightly sweet palate, carbonation crispens that up though, and the tingly bite from the bittering hops highlights that crispness. Finish mostly the bitter hops, a real throbbing tingle, but alas a bit of paperiness too. Maybe I left this too long before drinking, I don’t know.
13 Not really my style, but you’ve got to admire the craftsmanship. It remained drinkable for all of the several hours it took to drink!

I love Amarillo. Aroma: Citrus, herbs, floral, resin, bitter hops, complex. Appearance: Dark amber. Taste: Perfect bitterness, quite spiced. Palate: Medium body, well carbonated. Complex but very drinkable. Overall: One of the best IPA 20/20.

750ml bottle, big explosion upon opening, cork hiting the ceiling, hazy amber hue, with a frothy white head, nice floral hop, fruity citrusy, piney, grassy nose with some mild honeyed toasted, caramel cereal malt notes, with some faint orange, tangerine peel esters in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a warmth, yeasty, fruity marmalade, candied orange, lemon peel character with some flowery citrusy, leafy, resinous, grassy flavours upfront, with some honeyed grainy toasted, caramelized, biscuity malt undertone notes, with a hint of spiciness, leading towards a warming, yeastiness, fruity, lingering grassy, leafy hop bitterness finish.

My Bottom Line:
A contagious fresh pine aroma spreads onto the flavor profile of this fluffy Double IPA’s delicate caramelized cereals. After breathing, this is a wonderful example of hop’s entrancing power.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-This is yet another De Molen bottle which exploded upon opening, projecting nearly a third of its contents onto the kitchen floor. Why can’t these guys bottle condition properly?
-A voluptuous head of foam (obviously) settles laces atop the cloudy amber.
-There is lots of yeast in the bottle, which muddles the last 150ml or so of the delicious contents.
-Alcohol is well hidden by the levelled earthy, resinous hop bitterness.
-Subtle citrusy edges protrude from the otherwise piney hop presence.
-This may not be super complex, but it is very satisfying. If these guys could bottle condition properly, I would always seek their line of products.

Bottle.

UPDATED: JUN 12, 2013 NIce murky orange/yellow beer with a fluffy yet plungy head that stays for quiet some time... contains some sediment... Aroma has some fruit (apple/citrus), lots of yeast, some hop, hints of malt... Taste is bitter, gets more sour/sweet after a while...hops are apparent.... finish intensly bitter and fruity... awesome double ipa, best dutch one i know

750ml bottle, 10C. Amber to copper, large white head collapses to an inch. Aromas of nectarine, pink grapefruit, pine, caramel, white grapes, a little window cleaner. Taste is fruity and floral with light caramel sweetness and nectarines. Substantial bitterness is modest compared to the aromatics. Alcohol very well hidden. Rather overcarbonated mouthfeel at first; improves by sitting. Finishes with fruit and resin. The alcohol is quite noticeable at the end too. Normally with sort of beer a lightness of touch is praiseworthy, but this is too successful in that regard: it seems insubstantial and mainly perfumery for something so boozy.

Draught: Rich caramel brown. Great USA hop aromas hints of caramel and lemon. Great balance of caramel malt and tangy hoppage. Interestingly wooded fudge finish. A touch thin.

Countbeer (4303) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - NOV 8, 2010
Bottle: Big white foamy head that disappears slow. Clear deep dark orange beer. Smell a lot of hops and hop flowers as well as some fruit, citrus, grape fruit, sweets, and light bitter. Taste is smooth and soft hop flowery taste! Hop flowers, sweets, spices, fruit, mango, citrus, yeast, pastry and just a slight hint of liquorice. Über hoppy, flowery fruity! Delicious! No trace of alcohol.

Doften är en liiiten aning sur. Smaken bär prägel av gula frukter och är mycket trevlig. Eftersmaken är kort och lätt.
