Pours a hazy burnt orange color with a two finger off white head. Head dissipates slowly and leaves a blanket of lacing. Lots of carbonation coming off the glass. Smells of tons of grapefruit, blood oranges, floral, grape, raspberries? A wine-like smell. Little bit of breadiness and carmel coming through after the initial bitter fruits smell. A musty, earthy smell as well. This beer is almost a year old and the amarillo hop presence on the nose has still not gone away. Taste starts with a moderate hop presence that brings grapefruit, orange, grape, maybe some passionfruit. Leaves you wanting more on the front. Then get a nice dose of breadiness along with some carmel sweetness from the malts. Then comes back with more grapefruit, grape, orange, grass. Decent bitterness, but almost get a watered down sensation on the finish, as well as some booze. Get a good amount of sweetness on the finish as well. Low full body with a sticky and creamy mouthfeel. There is something definitely missing here. The age unfortunately showed and took away from the hop bite. Some IPA’s from overseas can really be great, but the high price combined with the lack of freshness is really starting to push me away. A fresher bottle could change my mind, but there is just something lacking here.

Pours a hazy orangey amber color, topped with a small foamy off-white head. Biscuity malt aroma, some molasses. Sweet and biscuity, caramel presence can be felt. Herbal finish, quite strong. Mild bitterness with some alcohol presence. Not totally something I like.

bottle that is old, but I’ll give it a whirl (10/30/2012). nose is nutty which means it aged well but the flavors will be off and since it is a dipa, the taste will be muted. So far I don’t mind. boozy. a sipper. I get nothing but nuttiness.

Bottle, De Molen Amarillo. Hazy amber, offwhite sudsy froth. Fruity hop aroma, passion fruit and peach, toasted malt. Evident alcohol later in. Flavour is quite sweet, bisquit with medium dark citrus bitterness and caramely malt to back it up. Slightly sticky with good lasting bitterness. Very drinkable. Very nice.

Tap at Haarlems bierfestival. Slight hazy dark golden with very big cream colored head. Tropical fruits up front with mango, some grapefruit, very resinous, a but sugary. Sweet malts but not on the caramel side of things. Quite sweet with light to medium bitterness. Over medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottled from Slijterij Michel, Bussum. No sound upon opening the bottle. Hazy orange colored, almost no head. Very hoppy nose, orange and lots of other fruit. Smooth hopbitter flavor, caramel malty sweetness, lots of fruit again. Lasting dry and bitter finish. The absence of carnonation is remarkable, was this intentional or did i have a bad bottle? Not the best Imperial IPA in my book.

Bottled 0.7 liter, BB 04/04/10. Hazy orange-brown coloured, lasting off-white head. Very nice complex fruity nose, hops, flowery, very nice. Fruity hopbitter flavour. Alcohol is well masked. Extremely well balanced. I usually don’t like double IPA’s at all, but this Molen brew is very very nice.
