An excellent blend of sweetness and bitterness. The grapefruit/orange aroma comes off very strong but isn’t overwhelming and compliments its orange/gold appearance. Tried at the Troosts in Amsterdam in Sept, 2011.
4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20 Zarin (141) - ITALY - DEC 29, 2010
I love Amarillo.
Aroma: Citrus, herbs, floral, resin, bitter hops, complex.
Appearance: Dark amber.
Taste: Perfect bitterness, quite spiced.
Palate: Medium body, well carbonated. Complex but very drinkable.
Overall: One of the best IPA 20/20.

Bottle, from De Bierkoning, Amsterdam.
Drunk this to kick start my hols in Crete, and what a belter it was. Hazy orange colour with a creamy off white head. Nice lace. Beautiful fruit and hop in the nose. Just knew this was going to kick ass before my lips touched the glass. Wonderful flavour with loads of hop/ citrus/tropical fruit. All balanced perfectly with some caramel maltiness. A joy to drink.
Would never have guessed the ABV on this- alcohol masked superbly. Well up there with the best I’ve had. Would love a steady supply of this.

From tap. Cloudy golden, rich head. Citrus fruity, mild spiced and weed aroma. Distinct peachy Amarillo aroma. Flavour is quite much the same along with tropical fruits.Light hoppy finish and quite dry.

Bottle 75 cl. Pours an amberish brown with a small white head and an aroma of citru, yeast, herbs and maybe coriander. The taste is oily sweet with notes of citrus, sweet spicey and really hoppy. Not only the finish but the taste is really hoppy from the early beginning. The finish is a great slightly sweet and bitter hoppyness that stays in your mouth forever. One of the best beers I ever had.
