Bottle. Pours haze orange with large, off-white head. Taste is sweet with a bitter aftertaste. Palate has a medium body. Aromas have sweet citrus fruits, malts, grass and some yeasty notes.

Draught at the brewery. Orange-amber color with a tight, high, head. Nice aroma of grapefruit, pineapple. Very dry and bitter flavor. grapefruit zest dominates. really hoppy, with no residual sugar, making it really dry as well. Dry fruitiness tries to balance, but can’t quite do it. Slightly harsh finish. Very clean and dry--I would prefer a bit more sweetness.

In short: A surprisingly nourishing and well hopped pale ale style beer
How: Tap at the brewery/brewpub
The look: Partly cloudy golden blonde body topped by a medium off-white head with medium retention
In long: The delicate but nice hoppy nose has leafy and fruity notes. Body is pleasantly full (for a below 5% beer) and the carbonation is appropriately smooth. Taste has plenty of slightly toasted cereals with a smooth caramel and some tropical fruits. Ends with a smooth medium bitterness that is slightly fruity, slightly leafy, slightly resinous,. Could pass as Pale Ale. Very nice beer, I could drink that all night. With a beer like this freshness has a lot to do with the enjoyment factor. On tap on location I thought it was really good but I’m not sure if I’d bother to buy a bottle in North America. So De Molen names a kick-ass Bitter after a country when nice Bitters are almost impossible to find. Ok. Kind of funny. And I also really liked the food at the pub. To even things out they should come up with a nice dish and call it the Brytysh plate.

I’m not a hop head so this was my most challenging beer at De Molen this day, but it isn’t simpleminded, with a frontal fruitiness to counter the big time hoping and lingering bitterness. Decent, from my non-hop headedness. (on tap at brewery)

UPDATED: FEB 19, 2012 Golden brown, fizzy body with strong foam. Impressive aroma with some soureness, plum, raisin, lots of hops. Yet a surpringly easy drink. Alcohol at the background. Interesting drink. (Bought at the brewery.) (Rating re-indexed)

100ml draught at Københavnske Øldage. Unclear amber body colour. Shining surface. Fragile lacework. Refreshing and inviting aroma of hoppy fruits. Flavour was filled with the medium tartness of citric fruits added by caramel malts. Soft bitter ending. Fine drinkability, a bit thin though Typical session beer (Carlsberg Tap 1, 06.05.2010).

UPDATED: AUG 17, 2010 750ml bottle from the Struise Brouwers beer shop in Oostvleteren. Slightly hazy amber colour, big white head, hoppy not too bitter. Delicious, like a milder version of the Struise brothers masterpiece Elliot Brew. Looking forward to drinking the other bottle on my porch on a hot day.

Nice blond ale with a fruity scent of grapefruit. The hoppy aroma is very promising. The taste is quite thin even for 4,5% beer I expected more. A good thirst killer, but I would go for a little more body.

Bottle shared by fonefan on 8/28/09: Pours a transparent copper amber with a thin, wispy-lacing white head. Aroma of lightlysweet pale malt with a decent grapefruity grassy hop presence. Starts with nice light sweetness and fresh citrusy hoppy balance before a crisp, refreshing finish. A very drinkable and fairly well-balanced hoppy bitter.

UPDATED: JUN 27, 2011 Bottle: Very small white foamy head. Hazy orange color. Smell is a mix of hops and fruits like apricot and mandarin. Taste is very light and watery with the above mentioned smells of fruits included. No real body and very watery and light tasty (like (light) tea) which makes it one of the more boring beers from De Molen (imho). ----RE-RATE&# 2011: Small airy white head on top of a light cloudy orange colored beer.  Smell hops, light fruity, herbs, citrus. Taste hops, fruits, citrus, pine, grape, sweets, light malty and some herbs. Hoppy fruity aftertaste. Low carbo, soft mouthfeel, fuller body, watery texture.
