Opaque brown beer with a good pale cream coloured head. Palate is soft and a little dry. Fine carbonation. The malt is thin and has a dark toffee streak. Light malt cream. Little Belgian tasting yeast. Finishes with light alcohol spice.

Bottle at Drie Dorstige Herten, pulled from the back of the "cellar" by the owner. Bottled October 2010. Pours dark, burnt caramel, creamy beige head. Aroma is fruity, tart caramel and fruitcake, faded citrus hops, orange & marmalade. The Dutch people in the room say it smells like sauerkraut. Taste is different- roasty, malty caramel, sweet, spicy bitterness, dry nutty finish. Thick palate, high carbonation. Interesting, big malty beer, it’s still drinking alright, and it was nice to try. Jeffo also gives 2 thumbs up.

In short: A big brown malt orgy in a yeast soup. Relatively easy to drink. Decent big beer.
How: Bottle 750ml, corked and caged, brought with me when travelling the land of overpriced beer, consumed approximately 1.5 year after bottling date
The look: Cloudy brown body topped by a medium beige head with medium retention
In long: Nose is rich nutty malts, like fried hazelnuts and toffee. Taste is a sweet pecan pie covered in caramel, heavy toffee, hazelnuts, raisins, ripe bananas, dried fruits of all color, strong yeast presence, some booze. Body is fluffy and the carbonation is extremely lively which helps the drinkability of this big sweet beer but also hides some of more subtle flavors. Drinking a full 750ml was rather easy considering it is a heavy big beer, but it is mostly due to the big carbonation and not because the beer is wonderful. A decent big beer. At least drinking big boozy beers like this one makes me feel closer to god (the dude was certainly a raging alcoholic to have son with a blood alcohol content of 13.00, or whatever the abv of wine was back then).

Cloudy brown, light brown, creamy head. Brown bread, smooth malt base, hop backup. Very smooth, balanced with some spices and some alcohol. (At Dean’s Tasting)

Bottle shared at tasting. Pours unclear brown with a small tan head. Aroma of toffee, bread, biscuit, slight fruity. Flavour is heavy sweet, light bitter, with raisin and prunes coming out. Full bodied with mild carbonation.

From bottle at tasting arranged by Sällskapet Malte in Feb 2011. Somewhat cloudy brown colour with a thick dark head. A hint of toffee apples, sweet spices. The Challenger bitterness dominate, aroma hops aren’t present in the balance. Too sweet and bitter for the style, too alcoholic for my taste.

750ml bottle, cloudy dark mahogany hue, with a big bubbly beige head, yeasty, dark dried fruit, fruitcake, toffee, caramel nose, with some nice toasted, caramelized, biscuity, bready malt, cookie dough, with some faint port, brandy liquorish, brown chocolate, brown sugar accents, with some bran muffin, sugar pie notes in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a warmth, yeasty, dried fig, date, raisin, plum, dark bitter chocolate, mild peppery roasted, toasted, caramel, biscuity, bready malt character, with some fuitcake, brandy liquorish dryness, candyish orange peel, spicy licorice flavours, with a cookie dough, subtle caramel bran muffin, english pudding, faint flowery citrusy, leafy hop undertone, leading towards a warming, toasted, caramelized maltiness, fruity dried raisin, fig, date, brown chocolate, brown sugar sweetness, strong brandy liquorish dry finish.

Aroma is caramel, some dusty malt. Touch of sourness/ funk in the aroms. Flavour is dust, malt, caramel, spices. Very nice, holding up very well.

(750ml bottle brewed Sep 14, 2010 bottled Oct 14, 2010 thanks to bu11zeye) hazy copper colored pour with fine tan bubbles for head. Nose is fruity, cream, and Belgian yeast. Taste of raisin, rich bread, alcohol, caramel, sweet cracker, a bit of concentrated apple juice. Well carbonated and a creamy linger.
